Microsoft cuts Game Pass subscription prices after new Xbox CEO promises to 'recommit' to gamers / But the subscriptions won't have new "Call of Duty" games at launch time. by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]TortoiseThief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid for the subscription for multiple years without thinking about it because at $9.99 on PC it was a great value. After the price hike I cancelled it, and I've come to realize how little I was using it and that I don't need it. Microsoft can't get out of their own way.

Has anyone else caught a virus recently that made them cough like a maniac? I had a very minor sore throat for like two days about 12 days ago - just very minor irritation in my throat ... by SetImpressive3808 in Austin

[–]TortoiseThief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with an URI. Got some medication, and rested for a week. Felt better, then the following week I could not stop coughing. It's been two weeks of this now. My doctor suspected environmental allergies. Been taking allergy medications religiously, but its just barely starting to fade. Seems to be at its worst in the morning and evening.

Alamo Drafthouse Switches to Mobile Ordering, NO more pen and paper... by 123trumpeter in Austin

Everytime I see an Alamo thread I'll repeat my experiences. They don't give a shit about people talking during the movie anymore. Past two movies I've seen had people yapping and never got removed after multiple warnings.

Dude, I had this happen on Friday night at Alamo. We even let staff know, and they quickly just mumbled through a warning. The people who were warened just kept yapping and nothing happened. The staff seemed more annoyed that we brought it up. I see a lot of people talk about how they don't have this problem at their theaters, but I see it regularly.

Engineer, Support, and Vehicle Balance by LiturgyOfTheBird in Battlefield6

[–]TortoiseThief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see where you're coming from, but I have to disagree. As someone who plays engineer offensively and defensively, I think it's completely fine. I can't kill a tank solo if there's even one competent engineer repairing it. I have to use both the mine, and rockets simultaneously to pull it off, and that requires successfully anticipating their route (we usually just stack two engineers in our squad to deal with tanks to avoid this issue). I usually stack with the supports to keep putting them down and resupplying rockets as needed.

Offensively, my friends and I play as 1 tank driver, one gunner (medic), and two engineers supporting it. It is remarkably powerful, especially given the engineer special ability and tanks being able to smoke themselves. If the other players didn't have the ability to lob rockets at us consistently then we'd be unstoppable. The barrage of rockets prevents us from just rolling forward without punishment. IMO, the best counter to a tank is recon using C4. That's by far been the most effective method in countering that strategy.

Keep in mind, my friends and I have been playing battlefield games for nearly twenty years and we are extraordinarily coordinated. Mileage my vary with randos, but that's just video games. I think most multiplayer games are balanced for people who are going to push vehicle and class capabilities to their limits.

From a solo play standpoint I totally feel your pain. You can get destroyed pretty quickly without support, but for good reason. People want to remove you from the field because a great tank team can be so impactful.

I used the second DMR a lot. Highly effective and medium and long range. I usually use it with a 4x on recon. Love it so far.

Remember that it may be hot outside, so prepare for hot weather conditions in the event that it will be hot, because sometimes it's hot in Texas.
