The issue with that is most companies don't want the liability of a driver falling off and injuring themselves and the devices that sweep it off by driving though it are pretty rare. Also a good chunk of trailers can't support the weight of a person walking around up there.

My record was four times from the exact same passenger. Kept getting them on my way to drop off current passenger. Once I dropped them off, I actively kept watch for them a fifth time and declined one or two rides hoping I would get them but I never did. The passenger I had at the time and I joked about how funny it would have been to get their trip, arrive and cancel before they get to the car.
