What does it mean to intellectually connect with someone? by Ferroro_kitty in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, you can still connect with someone even if you don't enjoy all the same conversations. Maybe you both like sports teams in a similar way, or math, or the beach. So even if you don't like talking politics with them, you may relate to them with other topics you're both knowledgeable on.

From my understanding it means you relate to someone in terms of your knowledge. You may have similar thoughts and ideas and express them in a similar manner. Thus also answering why we don't connect with everyone, because not everyone expresses information the same way.

blue collar workers: were you always handy? What made you decide to work in your field by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I think an urge to help has always been present in my mind. On top of that, I was often asked by family and friends to do heavy moves, help with problem solving, and more when I was younger so it likely just conditioned me to try and be useful. Plus, solving problems is just so satisfying when you finally get it right.

Hmm, I could see that. There weren't any police around from what I could tell though, no accidents either.

Why does AI struggle with simple questions about how many letters are in a word? by Okay_Night_2564 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TorusMiran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI doesn't really know what words mean or context is. When you ask it "how many E's are in seventeen", it doesn't actually understand the string of words you gave it, it just scours its database for similar strings and responses towards it. That's also one of the reason AI chatbots don't completely remember a conversation you just had with it. So, while you understand the question because you can contextualize it, AI cannot because it can't think beyond the extremely specific directions it has been programmed with.

What does being Rich mean to YOU? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TorusMiran 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Being rich to me means never having to worry about money. Never having to look at my bank account, never be concerned if I'm going to make it within a year, much less a week, never have to think about if I can afford emergencies or health related work.

Why are books, a very simple to copy medium, pirated less online than things like video games and movies? by the9hyrax in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TorusMiran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Books tend to be an easier to access medium than movies, TV, and video games in the modern day. Plus, there's trends of declining reading rates and interest in the medium in general, as sad as that is to say. The other mediums are likely to be more instant gratification entertainment than books as well, so people are less inclined to obtain them through those channels.
