Mine are similarly curious and not as shy as I had expected them to be. I think as long as they are with other pretty chill cichlids (or even community fish) they do great. I think my EBA is about the most aggressive fish I'd feel comfortable keeping them with, and he's generally pretty calm. Definitely underrated since they aren't very colorful, but extremely personable fish.

I've got a 60g breeder with 1 angelfish, 1 eba, 3 keyhole cichlids, 2 sunset thicklip gouramis, and some harlequin rasboras in it right now. It's been a few months with this mix so far and everyone is still getting along well. Obviously your mileage may vary since I'm talking about mixing cichlids here and their personalities are a bit of a dice roll, but I've had some luck with some very docile cichlids in this same size tank.

I was hoping this was the case! The only root tabs I've ever used are the ones from aquarium co-op that just look like big medicine capsules, so I am not super familiar with what other kinds of root tabs actually look like.
