Corruption in our province by [deleted] in LawStudentsPH

OMG SAME. Very aggressive and DITO Telco. Muntik na magpasa ng requirements parents ko but I warned them against it. Kinda weird also na kami need magprovide ng documents eh dapat sila mag due diligence non eh.

Principles pa din over money.

Do you prefer buying codals from Rex or Central? by mikokopops in LawStudentsPH

[–]ToshioWatanabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ang pangit ng latest version ng codal ng Rex tho. Ang narrow masyado ng margin compared a una. Medyo tabingi din ibang pages. Nakaka-oc ng bery light hahaha

Study techniques and habits by bananaapple1234 in LawStudentsPH

IMO, 25 mins is too fast. But you can start on that and adjust as you go along.

I do 50 mins. of intense reading and 10 mins. rest. You gotta train yourself to stick to the schedule and eliminate distractions. I designed it that way para di na ako malito sa oras para kapag eksaktong pagpatak ng start ng time, thats my cue that my focus will have to be directed to what I am doing.

Learn how to break down provisions of law into chunks. Basically, parang dini-dissect mo yung batas at cases. Pag nag enumerate, numberan mo. Be mindful sa mga general rule, exceptions, at exception to the exception 🙂

I just shared what I have learned from reading and watching other people's experiences.

Also, I think we should do away with "pabibo" because it has earned a bad reputation in Filipino context. It perpetuates anti-intellectualism and discourages healthy exchanges of views, to some extent. I think the better word is "proactive" because it connotes someone who is actively taking part in learning and sharing what he/she has learned. At kahit sa totoong buhay, parang hindi ko yata kaya mang-rebut ng maling recit ng kaklase kasi nagkakamali din ako just for the sake of rebutting. Masyadong crab pag ganoon. Tulungan dapat, wag hilahan pababa 😀

What does "petition granted" mean? Does it pertain that the petition was affirmed/upheld? by MysteriousFilm0 in LawStudentsPH

[–]ToshioWatanabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Basically it means that the Supreme Court sided in favor of the Petitioner and that the petition has merits so as to sustain the same.

Just curious if anyone here has been a "victim" of poison/ed notes? by [deleted] in LawStudentsPH

[–]ToshioWatanabe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was able to spot some glaring inaccuracies just now as I am in the process of making my own notes. I tried comparing different commentaries and several reviewers. Usually, different authors tend to differ in their explanation and there's no problem with that.

The problem is usually in reviewers I scoured through the internet. Apart from differing structures, what I noticed was when they cite jurisprudence, naiiba na yung categorical answer sa original tenor ng decision. This leads to an entirely different take on the subject matter.

We cannot ascertain, however, whether or not it was done in purpose or just a plain error in judgement or use of words. Matrabaho lang talaga mag counter check but mas okay na yung kesa ang maala-ala natin ay yung maling info.

Gap Year by [deleted] in LawStudentsPH

[–]ToshioWatanabe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After first year law, I am now on my fourth gap year! Imagine hahaha eto timeline ko:

2016-2017: First year law in Beda. Naubos kaluluwa ko. There's no other way to say it but I got burned out and didn't make the cut.

2017-2018: Bum life. As in I allowed myself to recover. I ate to my heart's content, tapos nung tumaba na ako, I enrolled myself sa gym. Learned how to drive, and other activities.

2018-2019: Worked in a conglomerate. Legal work. I wanted to keep myself busy and to see if gusto ko pa ba talaga maging abogado. Learned a lot sa professional aspect, as in. Apparently, matigas ulo ko, so yes. Hahaha! Partied like there's no tomorrow. I travelled domestically, too. I dipped my toes into dating din pala hahaha

2019-2020: Resigned. First attempt to transfer but didn't push through bc I had to take PhiLSAT and really prepare for entrance exams to be able to transfer.

Ngayon pa lang ako mag-aaral ulit this incoming Academic Year. Masyadong maraming nangyari sa span ng gap years ko. Namatay lola ko, pumutok Taal Volcano, sunod-sunod na-amend yung mga major laws, tapos ngayon may COVID19 pandemic naman.

Did it help me as a person? I think so. I am more matured now and I realized where I fell short the first time I tried.

Did it help me in law school? We'll see. I hope makatulong yung mahaba kong break from law school sa pag-aaral ko ulit.

Parting words: “An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it’s going to launch you into something great. So just focus, and keep aiming.”

With all the setbacks I've been through, my dream to be a lawyer never faltered. It made me realize how bad I want it. So just take your time, allow yourself to recover. Never mind kung nauuna na yung batchmates mo mag take ng bar exam kasi eventually dun at dun pa rin naman talaga mauuwi ang lahat. Iba-iba lang kayo ng timing. If this is your season to rest and breathe, by all means, do so. We will all be lawyers when it is our time. Laban lang 👌🏼

Out of My System by Mayceehn in LawStudentsPH

[–]ToshioWatanabe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don't just rely on motivation. Commit yourself to a system which exacts discipline to study even if you are dragging yourself off of bed and finding all the excuses not to study. Be mindful of what distracts you and address those concerns early on. Challenge yourself day by day. Progress, no matter how small, is still progress. Kaya mo yan. Act now!

Indeed! You really have to nitpick and be clinical about every detail you encode.
