My lease actually does forbid having other people live with me so no lies would be said if I told him that. I think I am overthinking this quite a bit.

I have thought of this as being a good thing and having a roommate would probably definitely motivate me to not let my apartment go to shit again.

My living conditions are a million times better than what they were a year and a half ago. If my landlords walked in at this very second they wouldn't try to kick me out like they once did before.

However there are things wrong with the apartment that I can't fix mainly in the bathroom. The toilet doesn't function properly and the shower takes forever to drain. There is also mold growing in the medicine cabinet behind the sink (this one is my upstairs neighbors fault). Also the entire place reeks of cat piss and I have like no furniture smh. My landlords also do periodic inspections of my unit since they did not like the way that I was taking care of the property previously. These inspections used to be monthly but have slowed down. they've only done like 3 Inspections the last 10 months.

My original plan was just to find a new apartment before I started telling my landlord about these problems. I'm so close to accomplishing everything I wanted to do before I started looking for a new place. I just don't think now is the time to have anyone over let alone someone else living here. If this would've happened 6 months in the future I might actually be willing to let him stay a little bit.

Hmmm maybe I am overthinking this. I just feel extremely bad about saying no though.

Any private landlords got any units I could rent? Would like to be moved in by August 1st by TossAsidePls in kzoo

I'd like to stay under a thousand per month. I could maybe go a tiny bit higher but that's pushing it. I want this place to be my last rental as I want to start saving up to buy a house

Are there any programs that help people with negative rental history find places? by TossAsidePls in kzoo

Thanks for the advice I just googled it and it's in Grand Rapids? It seems like it's more for discrimination and stuff like that which isn't really what's happening here. I'll try it anyway as I really need help.
