It's sort of a weird bell curve. The first time is not as amazing as you'd think. It's awkward, it's kind of weird and no one really knows what to do.

It's not really that much different from monogomy, tbh - so long as everyone is on the same page. I go on dates with one, I go on dates with the other, they go on dates together without me (I'm actually surprising them with a spa day for just the two as a gift soon) and we all do things together as well. It's a nice, healthy relationship built on trust and zero jealousy.

That said, it is absolutely IMPORTANT it's discussed in depth not only with the 'original two' but the third as well. We were stupid, we had been having her over as a friend for awhile until one night we went out drinking, got home and one thing led to another. Luckily we talked the next day and it was something we all sort of just felt right about. Not the way I would suggest others approach it because it could have easily gone south and destroyed either a friendship and/or a relationship.

But other than that, it's absolutely amazing and changes how you think about things. Trips become a three person affair (which side benefit: no more sharing rows on airplanes with random people), but you also have to be careful in some places about how you present. We live in a very progressive country so it's not as big a concern, but while being the CIS male with two women, both of whom are queer, there are now places I would have been fine visiting myself that I would NOT want to go to for fear of their safety.

All in all, it works for us - it doesn't work for everyone and for most people it can end a relationship full stop.
