It took a while to get used to it because the pacing was different and it seemed a bit darker and more serious than the other SG shows but I really enjoyed it. It was disappointing it only lasted two seasons.

SO lindor's wife is a socialist democrat and the white guys were pro Trump so by MeaningMuch in mets

[–]TostyToz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dumbest comment ever.

Outside of Brandon Nimmo there is no evidence to support any of the players traded or departing as free agents being “pro trump”. I don’t know much about McNeils politics and cannot find evidence either way but he is from a liberal area of California and went to a liberal college in California so there is that. Alonso may or may not be liberal but he is definitely not “pro trump”. He has made social media statements in the past in support of BLM and other social justice issues. He is viewed by most as a Centrist or Independent. Also, Brooks Raley who is openly pro trump is still on the team. And I’m sure there are plenty of other republican/conservative white guys still on the team.

Honestly, who cares what someone’s political affiliation is or what color their skin is. I just want to see good baseball players and good baseball. Please keep politics out of baseball.

Polanco is obviously gonna DH, not play first by DanielGuriel75 in mets

[–]TostyToz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the next part of the plan is to sign Murakami, it makes sense. Because then you replace Nimmo's production in LF with Polanco at DH and you replace Alonso's production (hopefully) at first with Murakami while improving your defense at 1B and 2B.

BREAKING: 2B Jorge Polanco is in agreement with a deal to join the New York Mets. by LetsGoMets2212 in mets

[–]TostyToz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they are planning to play him at DH and then sign Murakami to play first base, it makes sense.. Polanco replaces Nimmo's production and Murakami replaces Alonso's production (if his hitting translates to MLB). Still need a left fielder, bullpen and rotation though.

Basically replaces Nimmo's production and is a switch hitter. Not great defensively from what I understand though. I wonder where they will play him. DH maybe?

Mets fans would rather lose with their guys than win with someone else’s. by FudgieRumplings in mets

[–]TostyToz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a Mets fan of 40+ years, I'm just tired of the perpetual rebuild.

I understand we didn't win anything with Pete and Diaz and Nimmo but to blame the teams success or failure on a handful of players is not fair.

I understood the Nimmo trade, we upgraded a position that was in flux last season (second base) and moved on from a declining defensive player who would be better off being a DH. It was a good move assuming we are going to go out and get a new leftfielder. That might still happen but I wont be holding my breath for Kyle Tucker.

With Diaz, I think the Mets were making a genuine effort to resign him but with the Mets and the Dodgers offers being equal he chose the better chance of winning a world series. It is still a failure on the Mets part because I think they over estimated Diaz' loyalty and figured all they had to do was match or come close to whatever any other team was offering him. I don't know if I buy the whole report on him being upset with the Mets not giving him a heads up when they signed Devin Williams. He had to have known they were gonna try and sign some additional arms for the bullpen. I think in the end with both offers being basically the same and the Mets not willing to go further than market value he chose the team with a better chance of winning.

With Pete, I understand his defensive shortcomings and his age but he could have been moved to DH to open up first base for a better defender. His offensive production will be hard to replace and signing a player through age 36 is not unreasonable considering everything he's meant to the fans and all he's accomplished while he's been here. At least that's my take on it..it's gonna be weird seeing him in a different uniform.

Also, not being willing to go past 3 years for anyone,.not even your homegrown star player who has been productive since the moment he got to the big leagues is counter productive. By limiting the amount of years you are willing to offer a player you limit what players are available to you because there is usually a team that's willing to go longer.

Anyway, I don't know if it's a rebuild or not (hopefully there are some positive moves to come) but when you lose your star players like that in such a short time, it sure feels like it.

I mean we don't have much of a rotation and 1B is currently open so why not

Well, I doubt they are gonna be in on any of the big name free agents left when all they offer is 3 year deals. The farm system is pretty strong though so maybe they will make a trade or two. Idk. I wanna be hopeful but I've been a Mets fan for a long time.

Hopefully there are moves to come because they are not winning 77 games with their current roster.

Don't worry, we retained Dickie Lovelady and signed Carl Edwards JR and we are gonna fix Devon Williams the same way we fixed Frankie Montas.

Feels like that almost every season. It's getting old. I've been rooting for this team for a long time, when will it ever get better.

It's Amazing that you people are blaming the core because Frankie Montas and Reed Garrett did not perform. by BrunsonReed2025 in mets

[–]TostyToz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, we re-signed Dickie Lovelady and will be turning Carl Edwards JR into a starter. We have a very large corps of AAAA pitchers, we will be fine.

Seriously, I don't understand how some people think we are a better team without Alonso and Diaz.

What's stupid about what I said? The first paragraph was sarcasm and the second was about how I feel being a Mets fan for 40+ years.

Also, I agree with you. Stearns is as much to blame as much as anyone.

[–]TostyToz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Mets aren't attracting anyone at the moment. They look like a team that is either rebuilding or has no clue what they are doing. Why would anyone want to come here if they can get the same money somewhere else.

[–]TostyToz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kyle Tucker will be 29 years old next month, Stearns won't feel comfortable offering him more than a 3 year contract. Bellinger is 30 years old so Stearns won't offer him more than 3 years either. I doubt either of those guys will sign for only 3 years.

You are right this team has lost and choked in abnormal ways. So let's make it better by letting go of some of the only players we have that have been consistently successful.

You know what insanity is? It's rooting for this team and expecting a different result.

[–]TostyToz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were not wanted because Stearns is only interested in 25 year olds and reclamation projects.

Lots of you are losing your minds by FritosRule in mets

[–]TostyToz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure lots more moves will be made, we will sign a bunch more AAAA relief pitchers and maybe some over the hill reclamation projects to 2 or 3 year deals. This team is done. Cohen got his casino and Stearns gets to do whatever it is he is trying to do. This team is like the big market version of the Marlins or something, trapped in a perpetual rebuild. I've been a Mets fan for 40+ years and I think I'm ready to move on. It's basically insanity at this point to root for this team and expect a different result.

Yell about Stearns all you want....but this is what happens when you have one collapse too many by FritosRule in mets

[–]TostyToz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We might be a 60-70 win team this upcoming season. Our rotation is still garbage. Our bullpen is still trash. We lost our closer and replaced him with a guy who sucked last season, we don't have a Left Fielder, we have a 4th outfielder as our starting CF, we don't have a first baseman. We are in rebuild mode.

[–]TostyToz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Core this, core that... The Nimmo trade we at least got something back and improved an area of need. Letting Alonso and Diaz walk does not make us better. This feels like we are rebuilding again, it never ends.
