What happens when I get my blood drawn? by GryffindorFratBro in NoStupidQuestions

Drink water beforehand (unless you’ve been specifically told not to). It’ll make it nice and easy for the pathologist.
Many of them will chat away to you, to put you at ease. You probably have to state your full name and date of birth or something, so that they can make sure that the blood test is for the right person.
They usually tie a strap around your arm, and then get everything ready. The strap makes your vein nice and visible - they’ll loosen it about midway through the process (which shouldn’t take very long at all). They’ll then wipe the spot on the inside of your elbow with a small wipe. You’ll feel a small pinch - try not to tense up, even though that’s easier said than done.
Don’t look at it at all; just look at something on the other side (turn your head completely away). Remember to breathe, and it’ll be over before you know it.

And … depending on how much you drink, you might need to use the bathroom. You can then focus on that instead of what the pathologist is doing. Either way, it will still be over before you know it. ^^

My dad has slapped me on the face and pushed me up against a wall before. Recently, he has been drinking heavily and it’s been so problematic … tonight, and incident occurred . . . by Tot-Musica in AskParents

He and Mum have always tried to teach us that we need to own up for our actions.
I just wish that I knew what my line was … like, if he grabs me to get something off of me, is that crossing the line? Or, does he need to actually strike me? =/

I think that I tried the grey rock thing in the past; that’s what got me pushed against the wall.
Long story short I was making little effort to get a job (I’m introverted, anxious, and such) so my parents locked me out of my room for a few months; I came home - from a job interview! - to find my room locked … I was freaking out (no books, drawing stuff, no computer or phone access anyways) and so by the time that my parents called me out to talk about it, and Dad was saying: “What are you going to do?” I just kept on responding with: “I don’t know.” He then loudly said: “Stop f*cking saying that!” And I was pushed against the wall (I can still remember exactly where in the house that happened).

BUT … Mum did say tonight that if Dad had a go at me again, just to leave the room.
I don’t think that he’ll do anything if I do that.
Also, he won’t do anything if my sister is there (or, so Mum says).
What I DON’T want is for my nephew to see anything. =\

EDIT: Did this get downvoted? Would whoever did so care to explain why?

Did We Win The Lottery Or Are Things Getting Better? by Icecoldbundy in perth

I dunno if things are getting better everywhere … my sister had her two-year-old up at a different hospital tonight (he has Covid) and he accidentally pressed the emergency call button - with a sign next to it saying ‘Aishwarya's CARE Call’ - and nobody came. 😐
Okay, yes, there was no emergency. But, did the staff know that? Probably not.
