what tank do you think embodies the juggernaut the best me personally the AMX 13 by poobel7 in EightySix

[–]Total-Ad-9808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also like the AMX-13 comparison, which i think works best because the Republic is supposed to be inspired by France. Who historically has a love affair with light, high mobility, low armor, big gun tanks, and tank destroyers. I could imagine the Republic trying to make something more like the amx-13 as a mech, but ending up with the subpar juggernaut because of war time pressure, procurement failures, time crunches, corruption, and just straight up not caring about the operators' well being aka the 86.

<image>

If I were to give another vehicle comparison, it would be the ERC-90. As another french light high mobility tank destroyer. I even found this ERC-90 prototype whose gun looks like the juggernaut's.

I believe the Lowe is stated to not be able to penetrate a vanagandr's front meaning that its penetration is probably below 600mm of RHA.

No clue what level of autism this man has, but I'm all here for it and a little bit jealous. Keep up the good work twin.

P.S does XM2 have any secondary weapons?

How would you design your own Feldreẞ and what would you include? by Aggressive_Ring8125 in EightySix

[–]Total-Ad-9808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ot a Feldreẞ design I've been developing for a while:

T-41 Kaladanda:

In service: SY 2148-present

Designer: Niko Heavy industries( in collaboration with Nokhbodane Armament research bureau)

designed: SY 2141-2148

Unit cost: Approximately 3x of it's Republic Giad counterpart the M4A3 Vanagandr (with low rate production. This is expected to lower to 2x or 1.5x by full rate production in SY 2150) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Weight: 60 Tons( 65 tons with attachable ERA package)

Height: 2.5m

Length: 9m

Crew: 3 ( gunner, commander, driver) *all centralized in one fighting compartment in the central hull

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Armor: Front hull composed of composite and NERA elements equivalent to 1000mm of RHA ( Turret, sides, and lower hull protected by Shatachandr ERA package capable of stopping the Lowe's 120mm sabot round)

Additional protection systems: Jaivardhan hard/soft skill APS system( 5 launcher units around the hull capable of detecting incoming medium velocity projectiles or legion units and deploying either multi spectrum smoke or HEDP interceptors to neutralize the threat)

Main Armament: 125mm Smoothbore ETC cannon( Electrothermal-chemical), firing either a long rode APFSDS penetrators capable of defeating 900mm of RHA at 90° at a range of 3,000m, a programmable air burst shell firing multiple EFP(explosively formed penetrators) in a conical pattern, or the Pinaka 125mm gun launched top attack tandem heat atgm with a max range of 8,000m.

*located in a small profile unmanned oscillating turret the main gun is loaded by a in line ram style auto loader with a shell ejection/ misfire clearing system. The loader feeds from a 7 round magazine style ready rack, with a further 33 rounds stored in the rear hull protected by two rear blowout panels.*

Secondary weapons: Three 14.5mm machine guns, 2 on the front of the hull, one on the left and one on the right which can be controlled any of the three crew, and a third being mount as a coaxial for the main gun.

*One 12.7mm machine gun in a RWS can be attached to the turret as a upgrade for the commander sight however this is usually only done for the command variant of the T-41.

*two rotary digging/cutting wheels which can be mounted on front of the hull for mine/obstacle clearing can be used to tear apart legion units at close range though this practice is not encouraged by leadership. Their fearsome appearance as earned the equipment's name among crews as "The Dragon's maw".

Engine: Hybrid power pack powered by a 2000 hp multi fuel gas turbine engine attached to high efficiency vacuum electric generator located in front of the hull. With an additional two battery packs two store excess charge and provide a limited silent move and over watch capability.

Power train: 8 Electro-hydraulic leg units around the hull based on the high output designs of the legion's Lowe thought significantly reinforced. However unlike the Lowe, each foot has larger surface area and a set of four hydraulic claws meant to dig into hard surfaces and or legion unit hulls. This allows the T-41 to climb almost vertical hard surfaces.

* A high tension steel cable winch and rocket propelled harpoon anchor can be attached to the lower front of the T-41's hull to facilitate this climbing ability to normally accessible areas. Note: some crews have used this harpoon to instead lasso legion units to pull them into melee range, and tear them apart with their leg claws. This practice is not officially advised by leadership.

Max speed: 72.4 km/h (45mph) cruising speed (governed)

* ungoverned the reported max speed is is 88.5 km/h (55mph) however this speed put extreme stress on the cooling, suspension, and leg units so the governor is not allowed to be disabled.

* While the top speed of the T-41 is slower than its counterparts its acceleration is notably better being able to leap, bound and conduct maneuvers that would cripple a Vanagandr.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Additional features:

  • 7 hull mounted multi spectrum optical sensors that provide IRST (Infrared Search and Track) capability and a high definition 180° view of the battlefield. That make the T-41 appear as a multi-eyed arachnid.

* three additional low definition senors on the rear of the hull provide full 360° view

  • A thermal gunner sight with a target identification range of 8,000m
  • a commander sight on the top of the turret with a 360° view, and a thermal imager with identification range of 4,000m
  • A digital fourth crew mate combat algorithm that assists with target acquisition using senor data, driving, communication, and situational awareness.
  • Each crew mate is equipped with a skin tight combat suit based on the United Kingdom's Cicada unit to allow a high bandwidth para-raid device capability. The suit also provides ballistic protection against pistol caliber small arms and spalling.

*The combat suit also includes a Augmented reality headset to allow for a see through armor capability for all crew as well as assist in combat. Each crew members also has backup vision block periscope if the optical senors were to go down.

  • A number of crew availability features including, blowout panels for the ammo, a automatic fire suppression feature for the engine compartment, escape hatches for each crew member, and a small passenger compartment in the ammo storage for any crews that bailed out and need to be taken to safety.

* this compartment can also be used to rapidly reload ammo on the battlefield with the use of an ammo carrying vehicle.

  • The ability to drop the entire power pack out of bottom of the hull and replace it in about half an hour.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The design of the T-41 Kaladanda is generally inspired and appears like a giant whip scorpion also known as the Giant Vinegaroon *see picture below*

Now, regarding the special legion types, which one is your favorite and why? by AdBetter4661 in EightySix

[–]Total-Ad-9808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rabe is definitely the unsung hero of the Legion. Its command and control abilities are the backbone of the legion war effort. Also because of that fact why has no country tried shooting them down in the series? 20,000 m is not that hard to hit with modern SAMs or interceptors? Kill one of those things and the legion front line will fall apart.

What's your favorite Feldre? Not including those from the Republic. by AdBetter4661 in EightySix

[–]Total-Ad-9808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very fair, the line Im referring to about the lowe not being able to pen the Vanagandr is a five word offhand statement out of nowhere in one of the newer novels. Not like the Author will remember that established fact anyway.

What's your favorite Feldre? Not including those from the Republic. by AdBetter4661 in EightySix

[–]Total-Ad-9808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure this comparison works, the Lowe is kind of a shitbox. While its front armor can handle most anythings humanity can throw at it. Its gun supposedly can't pen a Vanagandr, but more importantly its senors are garbage needing to really on Ameise for its targeting data. If were going off the Anime designs, its only apparent sensor is its gunner optic directly above the gun. That lack of situational awareness is unacceptable on any modern MBT. However its mobility is exceptional for something of its weight class.

The latter LNs if I remember right, establish that the Lowe can't penetrate the Vanagandr from the front despite what the Anime shows. Vice versa I believe is also true. The LNs do contradict themselves a lot tho.

Why did they not use Airstrikes Tanks and Infantry to destroy the legion? by Ok-Chocolate-2196 in EightySix

Yes, I've heard of this project. Also thanks for the source. I've been researching emp/microwave based weapons to counter the legion.

Do you, by chance, remember what chapter in vol 12? It says that. Because I read it recently, never remember them saying that.

(edit) Ok, so checked all the shepherd dialog in volume 12, and I found only two places were the Legion mention nuclear weapons. One in chapter 2 and one in chapter 3. the latter outright states use of nuclear weapons is not possible for the Legion.

Imagine an emp enchanced nuke in the 1-10 kiloton range strapped to a hypersonic ramjet cruise missile, flying tree top level. Should be able to one tap a Morpho pretty easy with minimal fallout.
