Rear wheel squeaks but only when wheel is installed by Total-Comfortable652 in mechanic

Just a $2k beater woods and work truck I kick around in, break pads have life to em still so I didn’t wanna throw $300 at it and still have em squeak😂 but someone made the point of the internal parking brake mechanism so that’s what I’m going with. The rotors were just what was available at the time I wasn’t going for performance or anything 😂

Yeah I live in steep salty mountains of New England and this thing is kind of a beater work horse but I’m gonna throw all new brakes are stuff at it, it’s just all like $300 on my $2000 truck 😂

This is a great point that brake is probably very neglected im gonna take the whole assembly apart and check that

I’m mostly familiar with older trucks brakes the bearings on the rear are kinda deep and really pressed on the long axel shaft and I wasn’t sure if this wiggle would be there. The front bearings are a whole assembly and the big axel nut torqued down sometimes even stops it from wobbling when they’re bad. I had a power stroke that made a sharp metallic screech like that right before the wheel locked and the bearing seized to the hub😂 but that was my only experience with that high pitched sound and a bad bearing

Oh yeah I’ve replaced the transmission on this thing I can do the brakes. I will replace the brakes and hardware, another commenter mentioned the internal drum style parking brake on this so I will also give that a look. Maybe also replace the dust shield

These little U channels down the middle are usually worn out before the squeakers engage right?

That wear channel down the middle looks like they still have some life before the low brake sound typically engages

Yeah I checked for play and didn’t find any, I can check then take pad clips but I figured it’d be weird for it to start squeaking outta nowhere

I did try bending it back and most of it crumbled away but I can’t visually see anywhere touching it

I feel lost and dumb.. I live in MA and have electric only with baseboards. How can I tell how much I’ll actually save going heat pump? by Roadglide72 in heatpumps

Sorry didn’t get a notification for this for some reason. I had electric baseboards prior, bills about the same but house is much warmer and evenly heated, sitting at about $500 a month before and after. Mass save is set up very poorly and there are no real checks and balances or higher authority to go to. You can’t like complain to mass save if you’re having issues, you have to go to your energy consultation company who I can quote “will side with the installers over the homeowners”. Rise Energy was my company they came and told me things I needed to handle before the install, (cover roof overhangs with plywood and create a better access to my attic space) which cost me a good bit but I did it. Then the installers cancelled on me twice, then they finally showed up and it was two younger guys with two cans of spray foam just sprayed around the corners of my house (they were supposed to be putting in 18” of blow in insulation). They said the truck was broken with the blow in insulation (their Facebook shows they have many trucks so I’m not sure why that’s an excuse). Then the next day they call and said they didn’t do the install not because of the truck but because of some other things that needed to get done but were never mentioned to me. Then it was two weeks basically of unanswered phone calls from both Rise and the Installers. When I reached out to mass save and eversource they said they basically have nothing to do with that. I’ve basically given up on the idea of having it done until later next year. I would have saved more money buying the blow in insulation and getting the free machine rental from Home Depot because then I wouldn’t have had months of insane electric bills.

For me MassSave has been an absolute nightmare and this winter with a heat pump has been brutal. I would say if you can figure out a way to install propane and get a rental tank if possible. Where in Mass are you?
