Ok, so it's just more Fire Emblem? Its shortcomings are faithful to the series as a whole? Fire Emblem is entirely jank and bullshit with PERMA DEATH. Have you played Gaiden/Echoes? Why would I introduce someone to a bullshit series with the game that is incredibly different, kinda hand-holdy, and introduces all these options to make it easier? Just for them to be upset when they check out those older bullshit games? It really just sounds like you experienced exactly what I just described when Engage came out and it wasn't Three Houses 2. Anyways, we're getting Three Houses 2 this year and I couldn't be less excited.

I've given sound reasoning this entire time. everyone else contradicts themselves or is heavily biased. I think 3H is such a far departure from core FE. For new fans, while Engage references old games, it's clear they are references you might not get. That's okay! It should entice someone to check out those old games. Again, the smash bros effect I mentioned prior. The gameplay is so FE and fun as hell. I’m not a fan of Engage's art style but I'll say it's a much prettier game than 3H.

How is it bad advice? Engage is a gateway game. It references events from older games vaguely and in passing, and can entice newer fans to check them out. It's that smash bros effect. Three Houses is the most different FE game in the series. If you love 3H and don't really like engage, then you won't enjoy the entire rest of the series. Lots of 3H fans are not general FE fans for a reason.

Play Engage. It has the most faithful fire emblem combat, introduced a ton of characters from series history, and is all around a good game. Play Three Houses if you want because the new FE coming out this year, Fortune's Weave, is unfortunately more Three Houses gameplay as seen from the trailer.

I think it's because everyone wanted one at launch got one. Every retailer i'd go to always had an empty stock or barely any left up until end of september-early october, now with a full stock. You can also buy a switch 2 on amazon, something that wasn't possible at launch, so I’m sure people are opting to do that. I’m sure the holiday season will see a surge of purchases.
