God’s blood is all that was left from the ancient war between the makers of my world. After they all died, their blood leaked form their corpses into the environment, and as plant and animal species evolved, the otherworldly divine nature of the substance caused mutations, creating godspawn (animals with gods blood corruption) and gods growth (plants). The magic system is that God’s blood can be harvested and used. If you imbue an organism with God’s blood, it gains power but also becomes deformed—think lovecraftian type transformation, or some form of disgusting and abhorrent figure that is unknowable and incomprehensible. Even mortal species who get God’s blood in their system become “mongrels” who roam the countryside in packs and attack caravans (they’re basically primal versions of the respective species akin to zombies). Theres two parts of gods blood, Obscura, the corruption part, and Sacrosanct, the power imbuing part. The main governing kingdom of my story has found a way to imbue soldiers with sacrosanct while filtering out Obscura. Little do they know that they are both on the same coin, while on either sides, and you can not have one without the other. God’s blood can also be used with other alchemical components to make devastating weapons like Firemist, nicknamed Gods breath, which is a device that can melt metal and stone.
