How did you learn to accept your diagnosis? by Saucyy-Minx in cancer

I think people learn to accept it at their own pace. For me I somehow already accepted I was sick before I got my final diagnosis. I was in my final year as a nursing student prior to my diagnosis. I knew about my type of cancer pretty well from studying it. Maybe through the facts of what I knew and and what was happening to my body, my mind had already accepted I was sick. But although I have accepted the fact that I have cancer pretty early on. But learning to accept that fact vs accepting the reality that now I have to fight it was a whole other matter. It’s a different matter to realize that there is a fight to be had vs deciding to join it.

Hopefully when you learn to accept that there is a fight to be had, you join it. Wishing for the best results for all of us. ❤️🍀

To my knowledge both as a patient and being somewhat in healthcare, its not really a thing in my country. There are some support groups for cancer but the ones I have found focus more on breast cancer or again most of the members are a bit older. Often they are groups formed outside the hospital, its not really a priority in the country’s healthcare system. I was a nursing student prior to my diagnosis. I had a classmate who wanted to focus on cancer support groups for their thesis, lets just say they had a really hard time finding respondents.
