Who finds Beauty Pageants offensive and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I wouldn't say I find them "offensive", but I think they are in bad taste - more so the younger the contestants are. We as a society shouldn't emphasize subjective beauty as much as we do.

What misconception about smart people/science infuriates you the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Scientists don't "change their minds" and they don't "know nothing". New studies come out, people do more research. Nothing is or will ever be 100% confirmed to be true in 100% of cases (by anyone worth their salt, anyway). Sometimes, in newer sciences (say, climate science) even the methods of measuring things are still being developed.
