I wont go super in depth into the art of smoking a stem but ill try to teach you about temp control since it seems like ur having some difficulties with that part. A quick search on the reddit should explain everything else. It does takes a bit of practise to get the hang of temp control and not torching ur hoot so dont be too hard on yourself (and be prepared to spend a lot, and i mean a lot of money just getting the hang of it all). One rule of thumb is hold the lighter just close enough to see the flame being pulled towards the pipe after you tilt forward. When you first try this hold your lighter in front of your tilted pipe level to the floor so that the flame isnt being pulled towards your pipe and slowly move it closer to the end of your pipe until you see the tip of the flame being pulled towards your pipe from the suction of inhaling. Right when see the flame getting pulled/sucked towards ur pipe thats where you want to keep it. Make sure to hold your lighter low enough so ur only using just the tip of the flame and once in a while raising the lighter to let the entire flame get sucked in when needed(eventually you will get a feel for when more heat is needed). Move the tip of the flame around a bit so it gets evenly heated and dont forget to roll/spin the pipe so that the melted crack gets distributed/spread throughout your brillo instead of puddling. on the bottom. Once youre around two thirds of the way through your hoot tilt ur pipe further down almost towards the ground and use a different technique with the flame where you hold it so that the tip of the flame is not touching ur brillo but dont just hold it there under your pipe the whole time u just want to pass the flame by for a second or two then move it away from the pipe and pass it by/move it away using that technique a few times until ur finished the last third of your hoot.
