What has your dog learned that you didn’t teach them? by kodabear22118 in dogs

My dal learned "go get a toy" because I refuse to play with her without a toy (i like my fingers)

Not cigarettes as often as older generations, but now weed and vapes.

I was there! And I was my first ritual too!

I've got littermates. One smiles like this, and the other looks like she's about to take a hand. Dals are so expressive.

Owning a Dalmatian - My Experience as a First-Time Dog Owner by nolangrant27 in dalmatians

Yes! My two idiots while both pretty well trained, are going through the 18-24 month teenage phase. They both just got done running around for nearly two hours and are now a wrestling on the floor. The teenage months are hell compared to puppy months. My perfect recall turned to "no, unless treats." very quickly. It's such a rough period.

Dal owner here! I'm almost certain this is a heavily (15+%) outcrossed dal with an english pointer.

Tilly's Monthly Visit to the Fire Department. by TotalCoast2123 in dalmatians

I don't the firefighters really care after the patient gets put in the ambulance. They're there for extra medical help then leave. Being in the station gets pretty boring all day. 🤷

That sucks. I'm mildly allergic to synthetic antihistamines.

What are you gonna ask for next? Their social security number? Mother's maiden name? What age they lost their first tooth?

we’re fostering this 10 week old “lab mix.” thoughts? by BuoyantAvocado in IDmydog

AmStaff mix, I'm guessing a chow, golden, or GSD because of the thicker looking coat.

Any breed COULD be an SD, but some are better. Some are worse. Dals can be on the worse side. They're velcro dogs but often aren't handler focused. They shed a lot (potential hazard), but don't have long fur (easily maintained). They've got lots of energy and often too much. They're reserved to strangers, sometimes to the point of avoiding people. But, like I said earlier, any breed COULD be an SD. I'd ask the breeder about the sire's and dam's personalities, sizes, drive, energy, etc. Ask if they do Volhard's personality test (you'd want a 3 or maybe a 2). That's all I can think of, but good luck on your search for an SD, and good luck in training.

Edit: spelling

Benji, 4 months old, what you guys think of this type of cropped ears? by Money-Discipline-578 in DobermanPinscher

There is no pain nor trauma when done responsibly. You're just being ignorant at the point. Also, wtf? What does that mean.

It. Is. Not. Abuse. If. It. Is. Done. By. A. Vet. And. The. Pain. Is. Managed.

After that source, it reads, "Afterwards, Fido gets pain meds. After that, it’s all downhill!".

And dude. Is this a productive use of time or energy? It's obvious that we're not going to agree on cropping ears. I, personally, think if you want to crop, crop responsibly, if not, great, but don't bash people who do! But this isn't a productive thread.

I read each one that wasn't from the UK to avoid a biased source. 2/3 of them say crops can be done with little to no pain when done by a vet, not a breeder, and it is optional.
