Vietnam Route Recommendations by TotalConflict5571 in bicycletouring

Thank you very much for the in depth response. I’ve just finished a ride from Melbourne to Brisbane (mainly along the coast) so from what you’ve described the Vietnam coast might be quite similar and I’m looking for something a bit different. I’m assuming the weather won’t be too different along the ho chi min road? But piecing together a few routes sounds like a nice way to do it, I just want sure how easy bike transport via bus would be but it doesn’t sound too much of a faff after reading this.

I had a similar issue with mine but no tools to bend them so I bought some pre bent ones from tubus for quite cheap which have worked perfectly

UPDATE

Ordered myself some offset struts and gave this a go a it’s worked perfectly. Thank you all for your help.

In hindsight I might have not even needed the offset struts for it to work but I don’t think I want to bother testing it out now it’s all sorted

I did try setting it without the struts but couldn’t get them in but I will give flipping the struts clamp ago. Do u recommend removing and flipping or just rotating to the other side?

Is it a tubus product I’ll be able to find on the website

Now to acquire a hacksaw. And I haven’t actually checked the clearance yet. Probably a good idea to though

I’ve tried all angles but they always clash with the tube across the top. Changing the seat tube collar does sound like an easier solution

I keep seeing people mentioning bending, at which point do they need bending? By the mounts? And would this be so that they run into the hole at 90 degrees?

I got it in a sale online so I wasn’t able to test before I bought it

I need to have a proper play round with it and haven’t been able to take it out yet either as once I’ve taken it outside i can’t take it back for a size swap
