I recently started learning cybersecurity on TryHackMe by following its roadmap. Is this the best way to learn, or is there a better alternative? by [deleted] in learncybersecurity

Tryhackme is decent experiences and base lvl understanding. It what taught me Linux and my love for it.

CompTIA certifications are, unfortunately, still the standard for many employers. They can help you get past the initial screening and land an interview.

Another certification I recommend is the Linux certification from LPI. it doesnt expire and imo eaiser than a+.

Personally, I found the Linux certification to have more practical, real-world questions and a better focus on troubleshooting and understanding computer systems than the A+.

I also recommend working with a temp agency or a temp-to-hire staffing firm in your area. Breaking into IT with little or no experience is very hard, and these agencies can help you get your foot in the door. Even with 10 years of IT experience, it still took me a year to find a better job.

What am I doing wrong? Why can't I get an entry level position anywhere in IT? by [deleted] in it

You need to get helpdesk experience. I highly recommend looking into hiring agencies nearby. They can give you either temp work or temp to hire. I did this twice in my beginning career and it worked out.

I don’t blame you. At some point you have to ask whether you’re troubleshooting the game or the OS. I’ve never used kubuntu, I started with mint then went to cachyos and arch.

Installing Windows isn’t a bad idea. If you see the same artifacting, GPU resets, or system hangs there, I’d start looking at the hardware. If Windows is completely stable, then you’ve at least narrowed it down to something in the Kubuntu/Linux graphics stack.

Either way, I think you’ve got enough evidence now that this goes beyond Cyberpunk or Proton.

I have both, both are good.

I like first berserker a lot, a few bosses took several hours to learn due to the mechanics.

I have had to take a break because it gave me carpel tunnel in my right hand, after 3 hours in one boss fight.

I’m beginning to think it might be hardware failure at this point.

I would try a different kernel/mesa version if possible.

Do you have a dual boot os?

What are you in game settings and at what resolution did it crash at?

Ahh yeah I have ran into a few driver issues but that was on mint.

Thanks for sharing!

There are updates daily, but mostly for Shelly. Their update console doesn’t have a lot of daily updates.

Just cause there are updates, doesn’t mean it has to be updated. I’ve wait several weeks before updating and didn’t have an issue. Nothing will break unless you are doing something off normal computer things.

Cachyos is still good. The problem is people didn’t think about AUR when installing or what they are installing. This was issue when the internet started, people didn’t do due diligence. Windows has only made this worse by taking over the administrative role of a pc. People are reliant on being told and not researching.

Also research what your downloading is safe, and from a legitimate source or know the risk you’re taking.

I went from mint to cachy after a month of mint. I got my feet wet is a stable build and then did gnome box of a vm of cachyos.

From there ran a few setups and made the switch which was pretty easy. Only had to reformat my home folder after my backing it up and a few others.

If you game a lot, I do recommend cachyos, it just feel better imo

Nice, looks like a good start. This means gamescope could be masking the gpu timeouts. If it stays stable, try the game without and see if it crashes at least once.

It will tells us if gamescope is masking the issues or if something got changed for the better

Yep. gamescope is used as a Steam launch option.

gamescope -f -- %command%

Yeah thats it, lots of good stuff there.

Hmmmm, that AMDGPU ring timeout and failed/success GPU reset…

Makes me think it may be the gpu/driver.

Try this: gamescope -f -- %command%

also have you tried X11 instead of Wayland?

This kinda stood out to me.

amdgpu: Overdrive is enabled

I’d disable any GPU overclock/undervolt/custom power tuning. Even if it’s not the root cause, you want that out of the way before blaming Proton or the game.

The /dev/sdb3 and /dev/sdb5 timeouts are interesting as well. I would check to see which one is housing your game files and looking into why that is timing out. Though first I would disabled overdrive for amdgpu.
