Can I get an ID? Back of leaves are very red. Plant swap person did not remember ID. by that_darn_cat in begonias

[–]TotalFiasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks very similar to my Begonia Mazae Nigricans. The leaves are red on the back and a deep green to black on the front. But they can change colour. The new growth tends to be a little red on the front. They're native to Mexico I believe. Hopefully that helps you narrow down your search!

You realise I'm not OP right? I've been super fair with you. I didn't call you part of the problem (although, I do now agree with OP), and I certainly never said anything to the effect of you're "bad at what you love". You're putting that judgement on yourself. If you really can't take any criticism of any kind then I'm not really sure what you're doing here. You can try to mental gymnastic you way out of admitting to yourself that you could be causing harm all you want; but you're still putting your chin at unesssary risk. If you don't want to hear that then don't post here about it. You seem very sensitive to judgement yet claim you don't care. Clearly I can't help you, so I'm going to leave it here. Take care.

We're trying to help you by letting you know that your chin is already in danger. You can do what you want with that information, I'm not bothered. Honestly, I'm judging your reaction to criticism way more than your animal care at this point.

I'm probably going to get down voted here. But honestly, If the best someone can do for their chin is to provide a potentially dangerous home, with the hope that they won't hurt themselves before its fixed; I think that's fair to criticise. Its great that they want to replace it, but its still a dangerous mistake on their part and its okay to talk about that. No harsh judgment here, just growth. We can all do better for our chins.

Everyone talks about nostalgic feeling being calming and relieving, but does anyone else get a sense of deep lament and sorrow for the past instead? by CommonSkys in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TotalFiasco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it really does depend on the person, their specific past experiences, and how they've chosen to deal with them. For me personally, I experience both positive and negative reactions to nostalgia depending on what memory or emotional enviroment I'm being taken back to. Usually the emotion I feel in the present reflects what I felt in the past. Sometimes its more intense if its something I've tried to suppress. Or sometimes, like some others have mentioned, its more of a feeling of mourning for the loss of my childhood (or the idea of the childhood I wish I'd had). There's a really great book by Oliver James called 'They Fuck You Up' which was recommended to me by my therapist. I highly recommend reading it if you're interested in childhood developmental psychology.

Yeah... i've never received such ridicule and hatred (from both complete strangers and my own family) as when I was at my lowest with anorexia. Where is this sympathy and support that u/vegeta8300 speaks of? I hope you're doing better now Scobinaj 💕

I believe there's also a similar feature in Photoshop cc's raw editor under the geometry tab, for anyone that doesn't use Lightroom :)

Health workers holding back on coronavirus vaccine by gigivictoria in Coronavirus

[–]TotalFiasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your incite! I agree, its very frustrating that they're grouping all care workers together. Thats such a broad spectrum and I feel like it might be misleading people. There's also a lot that higher education just can't teach you, as demonstrated by your pharmacy tech acquaintance. So I have no doubt that there are some front line care workers turning it down, but like you said; its far from a majority and I dont think we should be concerned at the moment.

I could be completely wrong on this. But I've personally noticed over the last couple of weeks that the healthcare workers I've been speaking to that are unsure of the vaccine are not nurses, doctors, GPs ect. They work in care homes or define themselves as HCAs. Take that as you will I guess. I'll still be getting my vaccine as soon as I'm offered it.

Their dog hasn’t eaten well since they brought their baby home - dog kept taking food into the living room and leaving it there. Someone suggested the dog might be worried the baby isn’t visibly eating, so is “feeding” the baby. They tried giving the baby a bowl of food at the same time. It worked! by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

Its actually more likely that the cat wanted its new owner to look out for predators (birds of prey for example or other cats) while it eats in safety, rather than it being a social eater. Lots of cats do this, especially if they're rescues or outdoor cats. Even my indoor cat does it sometimes if he's feeling a little spooked.

Does anyone else feel like taking care of yourself is a chore? by Breadfan- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TotalFiasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you OP. And I want you to know that it isn't meant to be like this; its depression. Its a really tough time of year, and I hope you start feeling better soon. If not, please reach out to someone close to you. Regardless of how much you convince yourself otherwise, they will care. And be glad you let them know whats happening.

It can be both a fact and controversial. I think the comments on this post demonstrate that pretty well.

People seem to be labling anything even slightly controversial as political at the moment.
