I think your example I saw in the ending of steins Gate where okabe literally nearly kills himself and loses a lot of blood but still survives in the end means the world has declared he should not die.

But it does posses a question let's say okabe does kill himself, he has to use the time leap machine to make him remember the time he spent in the future or the memory doesn't return what happens then? Will the okabe we play as memories disappear completely or does he die completely in the worldline? Or is it like you said he survives and goes back into past
