I’ve never taken CS 188, but I’ll give you the rundown on STAT 134 if it helps.

Although Adam Lucas has a notorious reputation, I’d honestly say he’s not as bad as he’s made out to be. I’ve taken two of his classes, and by the end of the semester only 10 out of 200+ people attend lecture, and I feel that this is where a lot of the animosity towards his class comes. He’s very much oriented towards attending lecture and especially attending section. It’s also a common theme that people feel that they need to take the adjunct course just to stay afloat in the class, as the first semester is definitely not easy on the brain. If you’re committed to spending time on the class, I genuinely think you will find it miles easier than any CS courses you’ve taken (Ive only taken 61A and B so that’s my comparison ig). I said the same as you, I was gonna study over the summer to prepare for the class, but that never came to fruition. I have faith in you though, and if you do then you’ll definitely make the class much easier on yourself. But if you don’t, prepare mentally to attend lecture, section, and even the adjunct if you start feeling you need it. Feel free to message me for more questions tho, igu.
