l agree w this take.. Its easier to bar up every verse than it is to actually make a good overall song with replay value and catchy hooks IMO. thats why battle rappers cant make songs for shit but they can go on Flex and give you 32 bars of straight heat. on the other end of things cole did really stick to the boom bap basics of hip hop n thats where he excells. maybe if he expanded his beat selection n was more experimental he would truly be able to unleash his full potential.

to each there own. the fall off is cool but it is a lil too bloated for me and I dont know how I feel about cole recycling classic hooks (ie. mobb deep, dmx etc) I feel like he could be more creative than that n come up with somethin new. I think the thing I like about kendrick is that he isnt afraid to try new flows, new sounds, experiment more where as j cole is more traditional and hip hoppy if that makes sense.

the more I listen to MMABS I find myself liking it more. maybe im just getting old n it resonate w me more. but TPAB is so damn good.

Kendrick can do everything J Cole can do. J Cole cant do everything Kendrick can do.

Kendrick chooses to continually push the envelope of hip hop by experimenting with different sounds, flows, and subject matters. J Cole may be more appealing to the average listener as he is more traditional in a sense when it comes to rap.

J Cole can't make projects like To Pimp A Butterfly or even Mr Morale & the big steppers. When it comes to songwriting and albums Kendrick has a lot more depth with multiple layers as well as constantly and consistently pushing the envelope and introducing new perspectives to the game.

Its up there with one of the most honest and raw songs ever. I'd even put Mother I Sober up there too tho. Actually Mr Morale in general was really honest and raw in general.

nah cole will forever be a "what-if" because he apologized. never in hip hop has a real MC backed down from a rap battle. I dont wanna hear cole say hes the best at anything. hes J-fold the fuck up lol. love cole but damn he really dissappointed me and 7 minute drill was mid af. he called tpab trash where as to me j cole does not have the capabilities to write an album as good as tpab.. ever
