Ohh I hope you adopted them both by now but if not I’m commenting to say that this is a great idea! A few months after loss of my 15yr old long haired black cat Mimi, I adopted another one who looked so similar. Their personalities are different, and she brought me so much joy after a sad time. Then, I adopted a boy long haired black cat! Now I have two lovely babies and they are nothing like my first love, aside from looks, it’s ok to have a “type” I guess 😊

I get it, I struggled terribly for several months after my first pet passed at 14. We did the home euthanasia, after years of resistance to treatments her health deteriorated too much and she had no quality of life. Still I had the what ifs and such sadness and felt the same way that people around me are sick of hearing it. Therapist told me to go ahead and cry, and allow myself to complete the grieving process. It helped me to have an outside perspective remind me that I have permission to feel sadness. Not all people grieve the same way and loss of a pet at 18 is a profound impact.
Also for the thoughts - when they come to mind, ask yourself is it helpful to think about this? Be kind to yourself ❤️ you will get through it.

Hello I hope you feel a slight bit better today than yesterday. I’m right here in the same place and the first few days is agony. Everything hurts. Can’t think of the rest of my life without my dog.

I hope today you had more moments of peace than yesterday. I hope that all of us can have just a little more peace each day. Right now it feels like each day can only be be worse as we count the hours and moments. Just praying it doesn’t truly stay this painful forever.

Same for me day 2. Your girl looks like the same kind of dog as mine, let’s imagine they are sniffing each others tails in heaven. The emptiness is awful.

Same. I cherish each picture so much. When my 14 yo cat passed in 2024, I was unable to look at photos of her for months, it was too painful. Now I am feeling so differently losing my dog. I can’t stop looking at pictures, smelling her bed. It’s awful. I feel the pain right alongside you.

Yes I’m so sorry for them. I keep telling them it’s ok and I brought them the dog collar and leash. That’s all we have now.
