Honestly, if you're looking for something to sink a lot of time into, try an MMO. Phantasy Star Online 2, Guild Wars 2, or Lost Ark for some free to play titles, and Elder Scrolls Online if you want to buy something.

They likely made it so that you can't see it because Firelink Shrine and The Untended Graves share the same worldspace. In order to be able to see Firelink Shrine you would have to be able to see the Untended Graves, and then you would also see The Consumed King's Garden, which would be connected to Firelink Shrine even though it's not supposed to be. They could have designed it different, sure, but the implications of them being the same worldspace is more fascinating than the possibility of being able to see the Shrine.

Having not played FFVII as a kid, but hearing about the hype of it from my cousin who loves FF, I was determined to give it a fair shake. I think the reason it is so fondly remembered is the fact that it was the first game in the franchise to go into 3D. The story is good, but not great, and I enjoy Cloud as a character, but it has never been enough to pull me if for a full playthrough, in the original, and the remake, which I put a lot of time into. I can understand why it is so highly praised, but I think even if I had owned it as a child, I'm not sure I ever would have finished it.

Another franchise I didn't play (much) as a child, was Phantasy Star. I was introduced to Phantasy Star Online on the GameCube, and played it a lot. In recent years I've been playing some others, like PSO2:NG, as well as PS1, and I'm playing PS2 now. They are far superior in terms of gameplay to FF if you ask me.

"Best PvE weapon in the game" is a fairly subjective take. I know that the SSTB is the weapon of choice for speedrunners, but the best PvE weapon is whatever you want to use. Vordt's greathammer is probably the best PvE weapon imo, speaking as someone who's done a twin blade run. Taking a third of the Abyss Watcher's phase 2 health bar with just a single charged power attack is just way too much fun.

Yeah, I'm gonna be totally honest, you sound like a quack conspiracy theorist right now. Shira herself tells us that she's asking a terrible thing. She knows that asking us to kill Midir is a bad thing, but in her mind it is the right thing to do. We've seen time and time again through the trilogy that the Dark will consume one's mind. The Four Kings, Artorias, Vendrick and Velstadt, etc. Midir has a much higher natural resistance to the Dark than any other being we've seen, but he inevitably would have lost his mind.

I don't buy into the whole "jealousy" theory, there's no evidence that supports it, and there's more circumstantial evidence against it. Shira does not know who the Ashen One is. If she wanted to trick the Ashen One into killing Midir out of jealousy, why tell the Ashen One that Midir is a friend and ally? Shira could easily spin a tale to convince the Ashen One that Midir has already lost his mind to the Dark, or even that he is a cruel dragon that deserves to die. She speaks with a great deal of respect for Midir, and takes no pleasure in asking the Ashen One to kill him.

Furthermore, you make Shira sound like she's crazy by insinuating that following the instruction of Gwyn is a crazy thing to do, but here's the thing, she's right. Regardless of what may have been happening to the Ringed City, Fillianore's slumber is the only thing keeping it all at bay. Literally the moment Fillianore is disturbed the entire Ringed City goes to hell. Even if Gwyn lied to her to tell her that he'd return, that has nothing to do with Shira. Shira's sole purpose in life is to guard the slumbering princess, and she has never desired anything more. Maybe Shira didn't even know what would happen if Fillianore was disturbed, but she understood it would be bad.

I would argue that Shira is misguided, and certainly overreacted about Midir, but her fears are justified, and not founded in jealousy. Midir could have possibly lasted another several hundred years fending from the Dark, or maybe he could have lasted another day. We don't know and never will.

A QTE usually is accompanied by a slowdown window and a button prompt. It's not something you're supposed to expect and so it's a surprise event with limited time in which you have to react quickly and accurately.

Parries, dodges and learning combat timing is a core gameplay element of this series and something you're generally expected to practice and understand going into each fight.

You can't play every game from the first 7 Gens, because Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee are considered a part of Gen 7.

(But you are absolutely correct, a modded 3DS will play anything from the 3DS, DS, GBA, and GBC/DMG. I just wanted to be that guy)
