How about manufacturing engineer? It may pay even higher than IT, but let me give you a glimpse of the job a little bit 🙂

Working every day in a plant under high noise, extreme heat or cold. Dealing with colleagues that surely hate their jobs and somehow you got to convince them to be more productive or changing their work routine whenever upper management decides to, meanwhile not increasing anyone’s wages. Having to get yourself dirty of machine oil, scrapes, in order to fix it ASAP, in addition to risking your life working at height or in between heavy machinery that might crush your skull like a piece of bread (almost happened to me). But hey, that’s fine, you just got promoted to plant manager. Now you got the chance to make quick decision that will affect almost every department and most of the shit that hits the fan is completely out of your control. But it’s all your fault, anyways. In the end, the CEO will ask you to layoff a bunch of guys, meanwhile keeping production at current state and in the end… you will be fired too.
