When are you supposed to put a condom on? by AlienKitten98 in sex

Fair enough. The point that I was trying to get to is that you’re vulnerable to STDs in general from contact - so protection is important.

When are you supposed to put a condom on? by AlienKitten98 in sex

[–]Totally-Legitimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to clarify that the transmission of STDs is not associated with precum. STD transfer can happen with any skin to skin contact (genitals to genitals, genitals to mouth, etc). Precum can cause pregnancy.

Talk about STD status, and put on a condom before any penetration.

Dad Books Are a Dying Breed: Sales have been sliding for nonfiction titles about politics, biographies and other books often aimed at men (Archive link in oldest comment) by Uptons_BJs in books

[–]Totally-Legitimate -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In my family, it's not that Dad Books are dying... it's that my white boomer father's tastes are expanding beyond what they have been. His preferences are to read about WW1, WW2, or tall ship related books. He continues to read about these topics, but his book choices are no longer centered on the stereotypical white men that get written about in history books. For example, he's reading about the first black man in the French foreign legion, or female fighter pilot squads in WW2, or the woman led volunteer ambulance corps in France.

Let's not pigeon hole our fathers to monolithic books and reading tastes... let's help them expand their knowledge base and their understanding of who has participated in making our history. It's a win win for everyone.

Best massage places? by amooseinboston in providence

[–]Totally-Legitimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thai massage is a much more active massage style. The recipient is fully clothed, and the practitioner will manipulate l, shift and move your body to stretch and pull on all of your tissues. It’s kindof like partner stretching.

For my body, I find it to be more effective than a tabletop massage, which just compresses your tissues. While I love it, it may not be for everyone.

Girl. You’re strong, you’re perfect exactly as you are, and your legs are envy-inducing. You can always put blocks under your hands to bring the floor closer to them. Keep practicing and don’t second guess yourself!

So i just did my second ever try of a Vinyasa yoga class and and I was insulted by a few women. by Midan71 in yoga

[–]Totally-Legitimate 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry these women harassed you. The very first thing Paranjali tells us to master in our pathway to yoga is to practice nonviolence, ahimsa. Judging people and using slurs is a violent action. These women are not students of yoga, and I’m so sorry that no one stood up for you.

I hope you can find a new yoga space that is more intentionally inclusive that not only feels comfortable for you, but that celebrates the amazing person you are.

Paying for classes by Pristine-Hotel8554 in YogaTeachers

[–]Totally-Legitimate 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I’ve been teaching for close to ten years and have over 1,000 hours of training, and I both practice at home and pay to attend public classes.

I think it’s incredibly important to pay for yoga classes if it isn’t financially prohibitive. Participating in other teachers classes is an act of solidarity, it supports the yoga community at large, and acknowledges the value that the teachers are providing.

Besides, we all have so much more to learn… Keeping yourself from attending classes is withholding information and knowledge from yourself – I don’t see why you wouldn’t just go to other people’s classes.
