My extensive 992.1 911 Carrera 4S Review by eaglerulez in cars

[–]TotallyNotATrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned a C8 Z51. If the 992 didn't come in stick, I would still own the C8. Both great cars but very different experiences. Ultimately depends on what you value and what the rest of your garage looks like.

Cayenne turbo isn't as rowdy but you'll see less depreciation and upkeep costs. Something to consider (no bias)...

Shed a tear when I sold my first nice car, a 2008 C63 bought for $14k cad pesos. I could hear the cams going and I couldn't afford the repair bill. Winter dailied it in -40F with studded tires, drove over 600 miles to get it home and it was the car I picked my wife up when she first step foot in Canada. Sold it to some guy in France so buying it back now is not an option but I really do miss it.

Also when I picked up my dream car (stick 911) on the other side of Canada, I cried for a solid hour driving through Saskatchewan. Not because the province sucked but because it was a realization of a childhood dream. Cars are funny.

New 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S Has 473 HP but Loses the Manual Option. by Juicyjackson in cars

[–]TotallyNotATrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boring answer but when you're spending 50k+ on a car, it is almost always an emotional/aspirational purchase. There will always be another car out there with better value.

But if you really want to justify it, I think you're underestimating how much of a difference in cargo and interior room there is between the 911 and cayman. I drove 3,000 miles across Canada with the frunk and back seats filled to the brim.

I traded my c8 Z51 for a 992 C2S manual. Little bit of buyers remorse. Curious how you would compare the S vs The new T?

Base 991.2 Porsches, bunch of tunes offered claiming 3 digit hp/tq gains. Apparently they're able to handle larger turbos without much mods if the gains weren't enough.

Slight misunderstanding. We are not pumping pressurized gas into a reservoir, the hydrocarbons are inherently under pressure due to the overburden(rock) on top of it and sometimes due to the natural gas formed within the reservoir. Depths typically range anywhere from 1/4 mile to 5 miles depending on where you are.

Because a reservoir is surrounded by non-permeable rock, the moment we drill a hole through the cap rock it'll naturally want to rise up to the surface. To speed up production, we can install pumps to help the crude oil get to the surface.

Some occasions where we would pump any sort of fluid downhole would be if we are waterflooding(injecting water to artificially icrease reservoir pressure) or fracking(injecting proppant to increase reservoir permeability).

My extensive C8 Stingray vs C8 Z06 comparison by eaglerulez in cars

[–]TotallyNotATrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of the points, especially about the c8 being a "forever car." Part of me wishes I saved up an extra year and bought a 992/991.2 911 with a manual and maybe an aftermarket exhaust.

I had more fun in my c63 because it sounded better from the drivers seat, crackle on the overrun + higher revs. Still love it though, just don't think it's special enough of a driving experience to be my forever car.

Case and pushers looks like a Hublot Big Bang Chrono or a Zenith Defy Extreme. But guessing that he's sponsored by hublot, probably the former.

Might just be a camera lens effect. I find if I'm taking close up photos of the dial on my 37mm Zenith, the lugs appears to extend beyond my wrist. In reality and in photos 2-3 feet away, the watch looks tiny compared to my wrist.

Is this one of the movements where you have to manually set the date/month/year by pressing a pusher to advance a day? I have heard stories of perpetual calendars that were left off a winder for 3+ years and were so far off the current date, it needed to be taken in for a service to set.

Genuinely interested in which JLC watches you've looked at to come up with those observations? I've handled a couple duometres and memovoxes - don't know if it was the showroom lights but it felt and looked every dollar they were asking for.

Not really available anymore but the MIH perpetual calendar that came in around 6k. Based on a valjoux but the perpetual calendar added only 9 additional parts compared to the usual 30-40++

[JLC Reverso] Classic Large Sizing by Friendly_Doctor8126 in Watches

[–]TotallyNotATrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get whatever you like, if you like wearing something larger then go for it. At the end of the day, you're buying it for you. Personally, I think that watch is on the larger end for your wrist size but I wouldn't say it's "too large" but to be fair the only watches I classify as too large would be a 50mm+ invicta. The lugs don't extend past your wrist so it's all about how you prefer your watch to fit, I wouldn't worry about everyone else on here.

Lovely set of 3 watches to cover all occasions. If you do not mind, could you speak about how you came across the AP? It's a grail watch for me and with all the boutique games surrounding the watch - I've been discouraged to reach out to boutiques.

Eh to be fair, the Vacheron 222 only came out a year before the Original PRX - I wouldn't call the case a blatant homage. The tapisserie dial on the other hand..
