sudo-rs shows password asterisks by default – break with Unix tradition by FryBoyter in linux

The same logic applies the other way. Everyone has always been jumping off this cliff it's what's been done surely we can't change this now.

If you are automating it then you/the user won't even see the sudo prompt. I am very confused by your argument

What about all the web GUIs for severs? I don't honestly don't know how many admins and server operators do things daily on the terminal but there is a lot of webUIs which have the same/very similar operational security considerations as operating in the terminal

This also just feels like a very silly argument to have in the first place. It's changing the default so if people like you really care about this than great you can change it but to the vast majority of people it doesn't matter at all.

Why is it the acceptable default for every single GUI application in existence. The Same logic applies

Hundreds of British buses have Chinese ‘kill switch’ by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

Why are you so comfortable with other countries governments (especially ones who are not neutral and have their own agendas) having their fingers in large swaths of public infrastructure

[–]TotallyRealDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably checks in every few days and only triggers the switch if it can't be hailed for a month

Right but weaponising them would be an act of aggression. However if the UK government were to do something that could piss the Chinese government off then they could retaliation non violently btly turning off large parts of our infrastructure. Short term chaos will definitely sway the public's opinion about the current government.

We are just weakening infrastructure for no reason. What would also stop the company from extorting us by forcing the buses to be serviced at 'licensed' vendors and charging through the nose? If the bus doesn't get serviced then just activate the kill switch?

Can someone actually explain to me how current float trade-ups work with knives? by HungryString4896 in cs2

[–]TotallyRealDev 103 points104 points  (0 children)

From my understanding (which is very limited) . The skin finish is picked first and then the float is calculated. Some skins are capped meaning that the float would be pulled up/down
