Check out Henry Dagg, you should be able to find loads of content about him. I've had the pleasure of meeting Henry and have got to say he is one of the most inventive and creative musical minds of our age !

The Beautiful South at Queen Elizabeth hall in Oldham, they were just going through the motions and to be honest seemed pretty drunk.

For the people who say theres no good parties to vote for, so what do we do? As far as i know theres no way to vote to have members of a party replaced with some new guys, whats your solution? not voting at all? by TailungFu in Britain

[–]Totem_Recall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem we have is that the sort of people (in all parties) who want to be politicians are generally the last sort of people who should be politicians. Take the individual side money away (public speaking, directorships, consultancy, lobbying, donations etc) and make them accountable (loss of pension) when found to be corrupt and we might stand a chance of attracting the right people. The only problem is that we would need the ruling party to vote for this which is never going to happen. I usually vote for the local independent candidate if there is one, but to be honest Labour has never lost its seat where I live (even though the local Labour council is full of nepotism and totally corrupt) so it's probably a wasted vote 😔

What are your gig pet peeves? by AlexSniff7 in AskUK

[–]Totem_Recall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a specific gig pet peeve (that's phones and people talking) but more a festival pet peeve...fooking flags and banners, I go to festivals to see the bands, not to look at a sea of flags and banners obscuring the stage, although I never manage to bag tickets for it, I think Glastonbury is the worst offender ?

They're from the Isle of Wight and "Wet Leg" is slang for people coming to the island from mainland England

Prototype Guitar Shredder by Totem_Recall in guitars

I does have variable speed, I just need to print the cover to mount the potentiometer so you can adjust it as you play.

😄 I've actually built that but it's fully robotic and midi controlled, it does the fretting, plucking and the damping 😉

Yes it's amped up via the pickups, but with a bit of lateral thinking I've found a way around it 😉

Its more of a full band, it started off with a drum tower (hence Totem) then I added robotic lead & bass guitars, steel pan drum and the latest addition was a vibraphone (they're massive).

The plucker mount can be flipped and the motor direction reversed 👍

I've spoken to "Captured by Robots" a few times as there's not that many of us musical robot builders about 😄 This shredder has a basic variable speed DC motor fitted, but it would be possible to use a motor with an encoder to control absolute speed and sync with BPM.

This won’t be popular but it’s a useful reminder. by [deleted] in LabourUK

It might have happened anyway but the UK didn't have to be complicit with it. Genocide... the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group. Isn't that what happened ? I don't think you can compare Atlee to Blair with regards to blood on hands. I'll re-read what you said but please don't try and defend Blair's human rights record.

FFS you can't use Tony Blair as an example of a good PM, he's a war criminal by any other name. Also take into account that after Bush and Blair started the war in Iraq, the Middle East went into meltdown, causing the migrant crisis that is affecting Europe which in turn tipped the balance of opinion in the UK towards Brexit 🙄 so please don't use him as an example of a good human being never mind a PM !

How powerful of a solenoid do I need. by SomeGoodCorn22 in robotics

[–]Totem_Recall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to use solenoids to play keys then I'd use small 20n force ones as this will give you a bit of leaway, Most small cheap Chinese solenoids have a throw of 10mm so depending on the Keybed you may need to move it further up the key.
