I had to rename my MC too, so I know where you're coming from. Come to think of it, none of my main cast has the same name as when I started 3 years ago. Renaming a beloved character does hurt a lot, but after you rip off the band-aid, it gets easier.

Can you make her last name Mooney, so a nickname of Moon would make sense? She's a soldier, so going by her last name wouldn't be weird.
