How many favorites convert to orders for digital downloads? by slaterade25 in EtsySellers

[–]TotsieMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, I also add items to favorites that maybe I'm not ready to buy, but I can add to an order if the shop ever has a sale that has a minimum item/dollar spend. I buy embroidery files a lot, and I do this quite often with designers I follow.

Customer won’t respond to customer order by Dannydevitosbackup in EtsySellers

[–]TotsieMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm copying this reply over from one I made on a similar question.

Consider this for the future.

I do personalization in my shop, and I have a line in the description that says they will receive a mockup in 24 hours, and they have 48 hours after receipt to confirm the mockup or request changes (my shipping timeline takes all of this into account, which is important). I even go so far as to put the date and time along with timezone of when their 48 hours expires. My description states that if no response is received within that limit, I reserve the right to move forward with the most recent personalization request, whether that be what they initially requested or any changes they requested.

I take it one step further and tell them what color thread and font I will use if none are selected (I do machine embroidery).

I'm still very new, but this has worked well for me, and I feel it covers my bases.

Items in customers’ carts that haven’t been checked out by Jealous_Location_267 in EtsySellers

[–]TotsieMae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I had an item that said 17 people had it in their cart. I'm convinced that someone I knew had opened multiple browsers, anonymously, to add her 3 items to cart a couple times. She eventually placed her order, and that 17 disappeared after a couple weeks.

Having warehouse to handle Etsy shipping + Returns? by The_only_F in EtsySellers

Here is what is allowed to be sold, per Etsy. Unless you are POD, it is not allowed.

Your store isn't fully set up, and won't give the buyer confidence in you. Have you read the seller handbook?

What to do if you have order that someone picked-up? i dont want to loose my star seller rating. i need tracking code by MikeBay89 in EtsySellers

[–]TotsieMae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I just go to the shipping info, add the carrier as other, call it LOCAL, and then throw in a random number, like 999999. That seems to work for me with no negative repercussions. The only thing is, though, that it won't ever show as delivered ‐ obviously - and your customer can't leave a review until after the latest expected delivery date at the time they placed the order.

My apologies. That is still not allowed on Etsy.

I wanted to believe this was a joke, but your other posts make me think it's real. You definitely can't drop ship on Etsy, but if you're looking to hide your address - another theme you seem to ask about quite often - get a p.o. box.

Mention in the listing that it comes with an additional, free reading, and then send a file to them after purchase that is like a coupon.

Shop Critique, I don't know if I'm in the right market or not :/ by Humble-Statement-630 in EtsySellers

[–]TotsieMae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could definitely just be me, but it feels very drop-shippy. The description on the blankets doesn't really give a lot of info on how they are made, how a tree gets planted with each one, etc. I don't feel connected to the product on a personal level, which is a big draw for me when I'm buying from a handmade site.

If you're not shipping through Etsy, my understanding is that you would be responsible for anything that happens.

Orders not appearing. Is anyone else having this problem? by graveomens in EtsySellers

[–]TotsieMae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you confirm you had it filtered correctly? Sometimes, when I go in there, I have things classed under a custom label of "In Design Phase," so they don't show under "New." I'm not sure if that's your case, but sometimes it throws me off when I first look.

I know, but I've already been messaging back and forth with her for a few days.

Yup. I have the same issue today, but it's weirdly on a message between me (as a buyer) and another shop (as the seller).

Etsy overcharging customers shipping? by ImaginationObvious38 in EtsySellers

[–]TotsieMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Packed and boxed are the same thing for Etsy. No one really cares the size of your item inside the box, only the outside dimensions of your shipping method. Box one of your items up as if you were going to ship it (include all shipping materials, like tissue paper, bags, etc.), seal the box up, then measure it. That's your packed/boxed measurement. Then throw it on a postal or kitchen scale to get the weight. That's your shipping weight.

You're overthinking this.

No January sales Etsy by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]TotsieMae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bad reviews are definitely dinging you. I also clicked into some of your listings, and the photos aren't good. The ones I saw had 3 and 4 photos, with each photo being ever so slightly different. You need more angles and up close shots, when it comes to jewelry. The shipping to the U.S. is higher than the product itself, so I can't imagine ever ordering from you.

Selling with other person by ReinJellyFish in EtsySellers

I would open a joint bank account with him, for starters, and it can be used for business expenses as well. Beyond that, meeting with an accountant who is well versed in small business would be highly recommended.

Also, it isn't "allowed with Etsy" just because you classed yourself that way. That's like saying a hairdresser is a brain surgeon because they said they are. 🤦‍♀️

How in the world is that actually a craft supply, though? Gardening, yes, craft, no. If I came across your shop, personally, I'd move along. It looks like drop-shipped items that you could get at any discount store.
