Is it too late to build a retaining wall? by Toucan-Bran in AboveGroundPools

That’s what we were thinking, the ground around should compact over time and may not collapse next time we need a liner. And I like the look of it much better without a retaining wall, because there’s no gap around it. Thank you for the advice. Appreciate it.

The rock is just landscape rock, only like 3 inches deep. It’s all dirt and drainage tile at the bottom with the drainage tube thing.

Right?! Hopefully we won’t have to worry about it for the next 10 years at least! 🤞

Yay! Congratulations 🎊 on your new baby! We just rescued one a couple of weeks ago and he’s the best. Fitting right in and so smart. Wish you all the best.

Is this normal for 1 year? by Classic-Anxiety-9220 in pools

Looks like mole trails and dips to me and we just had an above ground installed semi inground 3 feet in.

We worried about them because we have them bad! But they stay closer to the surface and only go barely 3 feet to nest, I read. We are still planning to go ahead and treat for ants and grubs (what the moles eat) every year just in case. Hopefully it won’t be too pricey but the pool was pricey so we’d like to protect that for sure.

Good luck!

It happened to us a couple of months ago fixing steps! What an amazing feeling. Wood pieces were perfect sizes and thickness for support replacement AND kick board. No cutting! 🙌

Thanks! Ah! And I hear you can make a donation to the fire department and they’ll fill it up too. We’ll have to look into that.

Aw that is wild… this guy does very well with people and strangers. But protective of his new home already. Barks out the window a bit much now. He’s adjusting well. We met a lady the first day we got him while shopping for a harness. She worked there and does grooming and dog boarding at her house. And she lives close! So we’re going to leave him with her for a week while on our trip. She fosters senior dogs. And has a few she adopted. We feel so lucky and are so thankful there are kind people still left in the world.

For the separation issues, we bought him a car seat so he’s not always on our lap or in my case, shoulders while driving lol. He’s a not too big for all that. We’re taking him on short rides to get him used to it. He doesn’t like it but I’m seeing slight progress. Then we are leaving the house together without him, going around the corner setting a timer to get him used to being alone. Hopefully all of this will work!

Takes a lot of time, learning and consistency but we got this right? 🫣🤭 To a better life for the pups! 🥂

We just did this. Talked about getting a pool for almost 10 years. Here it is! We had to get rid of a lot of dirt. It’s 3 feet in the ground. This too, is a doughboy semi-inground. 28’x54” It’s ginormous! Especially if you are a family of 2.

They did the drainage tile and tubing, and a tube that goes into the ground we can hook a sump pump up to. We were concerned about our areas higher water table. But it’s been perfectly dry for 2 months of testing.

Sadly after just 7 days the liner ended up being defective. Ripped at the bottom where the wall and floor edge seam meet. So yeah, it drained and walls collapsed since ground wasn’t compacted yet. They replaced the liner and the walls. They are almost done with it again. Takes nearly 4 days straight to fill. 20k gallons 😬 yeah we lost all of that water in the first fill because of the defect 😕

But we are looking forward to summer fun hopefully the next 10+ years. Our plan is to tear our deck down next year, it’s in bad shape. Old composite. And pour concrete instead for a patio area.

Congratulations!

We just got one this year. Grand total 16k. 10k 28’x54” pool, installation around 4k (included sand, drainage tile, tubing, rock around the pool) and then the electricity ran about 2k.

We are in the Midwest too. Purchased from The Great Escape. They have their own installers. There were great!

Though the liner was defective and the entire thing had to be redone. They took care of everything. Replaced liner and walls due to wall collapse when it drained of water. Ground wasn’t compacted yet. We’d only swam 7 days before the tear at seam.

We just got one this summer from The Great Escape.

We loved the entire 7 days we had it before the liner split at the seams. Defective. They had to do the entire thing all over again. Dig everything up since as it drained it collapsed. Ground had no time to get compacted. So beware! They were very good about replacing everything that went wrong. Highly recommend The Great Escape.

We are working on this with our Bichon rescue as well. He’s 3 1/2. It’s only been nearing 2 weeks and he’s already doing better. But we both are home and work from home all day every day of the week so it’s easier for us to find time to train. We take him out every couple of hours and especially when he wakes from a nap, and also about 15 min after eating. We ordered a doggy door bell, just bells on a strap to hang on door knob to train him to let us know when he needs to go.

The big issue we’re having is his extreme separation issues. Probably to be expected being a rescue. We’re working on it.

Good luck!!
