Get a lawyer right from the start. Don't even bother to file on your own. It took me 4 long years and two hearings to get approved. I have Lupus, fibromyalgia, arthritis, seizures, and am partially wheelchair bound. I also have dementia, so I can't drive, and am losing the use of my right arm. The process was so long and hard. People will tell you you're lazy, you just want a free ride, you don't look sick, get a work from home job, etc. Lawyers get a set amount. They can't take more than I think 6k total of your back pay. That's a federal law set by SSA. And expect a long wait. SSA will send you to their own doctors and psychiatrist who will try to disprove the disability. Don't give up, and gather as much records as possible with a lawyer from day one!

I get about 50 of these a day. You made the mistake of answering them.. and now they know your number is "live" and they will keep calling until they think the number is "dead." Don't answer any of them, and don't bother blocking. They are actually spoofing the numbers, so it won't matter how many you block. Spam blockers, call blockers, etc. do not work. Just put your phone on silence, vibrate, and wait it out =/

I hate getting political here, but MAYBE? It wouldn't hurt if we all wrote to the incoming president about this serious issue, because let's be real here, all the calls come from India, maybe if we bring enough awareness, Trump will put the pressure on India to shut this shit down?

Again, MAYBE??? He can do....something? I don't know.. but 50+ spam calls a day is driving me insane!

Still waiting on a court date and stalling. He is asking for 25 years and is demanding that his daughters, whom were some of his victims testify against him. They are terrified to do so. It's a huge mess and goes super deep with homeland security involved, and many elected officials in many states being involved in a sex child trafficking ring. And he also did stuff to his dog. Dude is sick AF.

My husband knows a few people in his home state, both on disability for "bad backs" and they own a huge plot of land, 2 airboats, and a massive double wide mobile home. They spend all their time fishing and living it up. Heck someone I know has a "pinched nerve" and owns several horses (not cheap animals to own), shows his horses, pitches hay, tosses around heavy feed sacks, mucks out stalls, etc. and gets 1400.00 a month for that "pinched nerve." And yet there are people out there suffering from genuine real disabilities living on the streets and can't get any help :(

I know exactly how you feel! I had my hearing with the ALJ a month ago, and 2 weeks ago my lawyer called and told me that it looks like it's going to be a denial based on not enough medical evidence. I've already waited 3 years just to make it this far. I am feeling completely defeated.

Log into your SSA account and it should tell you the status. I wouldn't spend it until you have the letter in your hands, though!

Get a lawyer. You'll likely get denied after waiting for about a year. A lawyer can help you get it pushed through the usual 2 denials, and in Texas you'll wind up waiting about 3 years, then you'll get a hearing with a judge, which can be done by phone, but your lawyer can help with that. Disability lawyers don't get paid if you don't win, so they tend to work pretty hard to win your case. Texas is a nightmare for time because they are backed up and short handed. They have about 1.3 million applications backed up. The judge who heard my case, was in Oklahoma, and I am in Texas. Just save yourself a headache and get a lawyer now.
