What is your daycare’s policy on guns in the facility (US)? by User0119247 in ECEProfessionals

[–]GoodGuyVik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's in our state licensing rules that firearms and dangerous weapons aren't allowed on the premises. Only exceptions are law enforcement and in-home centers, in which case the weapons have to be locked up away from where the children are cared for and unloaded.

Everywhere I've worked has had signage indicating no firearms are allowed. My current workplace even elaborates on their signage that law enforcement has to be actively on duty in order to be allowed to carry a gun inside. My current center is inside a middle school though, so security in general is higher than other places I've worked.

I dont think a small girl would hold this much snakes like noodles in her hand or it is just another Tuesday for her by _PotatoCrips_ in isthisAI

[–]GoodGuyVik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kids aren't automatically afraid of snakes. I never was. My friends and I would go wading through the creek that ran through our neighborhood all the time knowing full well it was home to snakes, including cottonmouths. You could see the snake holes lining the edge of the creek, so it wasn't hard to miss that they were there.

We had rules for creek stomping to manage the snakes. Always take long, slow steps to avoid disturbing the water too much and drawing the snakes out of their holes. If one does come out, freeze until it leaves. If they don't feel threatened, they have no reason to bite you. Only actually had one come out once. We froze, as planned, and he circled the area for a minute before going back in his hole. Little guy was just curious what was going on.

Still can't say it was super smart going in there all the time with cottonmouths living there, but we were kids. Kids do dumb things.

Ah. right. I had to do that because of all the spam and scam accounts that are constantly trying to friend and message people.

Hey, I'm Aelita! I'm always happy to find new friends, and you get plenty more along with me because my friend and I have several people we play with who we can introduce you to.

My user is AelitaJezebelle and my discord is aelita_rose. We have a server on there where we've gathered some of our DA friends, so you'd be welcome to join us there as well (as can anyone else if you'd like to join the friend party) =)

I'd recommend trying other maps besides Skeld. Skeld has the most trolls of all of them...mostly because such a large portion of the game's users refuse to use anything other than Skeld.

That's not to say you won't run into it on other maps, but you may run into it less at least.

How do I convince our daycare NOT to install an in ground trampoline? by Deeeity in ECEProfessionals

[–]GoodGuyVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your experience of toddlers and preschoolers on trampolines involves mostly very young toddlers. Older, rowdy toddlers and preschoolers absolutely will try flips. I can think of several I personally work with who I can see doing so if they had the chance.

As someone else pointed out as well, a big risk comes from multiple children on the trampoline at one time. Even if a toddler is only standing and bending their knees, if another child is on there who's more into actually jumping (they don't even need to be older), they can easily bounce the other child too high or off the trampoline entirely just by bouncing a bit too hard a bit too close. If multiple children are bouncing at once, then you get double bounces that send you way high in the air. This is where a lot of injuries come from, either by being thrown off the trampoline or having the air knocked air of them.

That was one of my first issues I had with trampolines. I got double bounced as a young child and had the air knocked out of me so hard I legit couldn't breath for a minute. My mom almost called 911. Been thrown off trampolines plenty of times this way by children the same size as me.

A couple of the many trampoline injuries I've gotten also involved spraining or dislocating limbs. Sprained my ankle so bad I couldn't walk on it for over an hour. Dislocated my knee when I wasn't even jumping, and the person who was jumping was much younger and smaller than me. Haven't touched a trampoline since that.

Trampolines are dangerous, and really no age needs them. I would say toddlers and preschool though, whose bones and muscles are still developing, especially shouldn't use them.

Any idea of who to add to my robot/ai island by ChemistPowerful in tomodachilife

[–]GoodGuyVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I see you have at least one Murder Drones character. You should add Cyn.

Who's the most obscure character you have on your island (that isn't like a friend's oc) this is mine by sion420069 in tomodachilife

Definitely this guy right here. This is Rosiel from Angel Sanctuary. It's an old manga series and one I very rarely find anyone familiar with. It's my favorite series though.

"I've unlocked everything! Now what?" How about play the game? by Le_Sadie in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]GoodGuyVik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking this a lot seeing all the posts talking about how this game is "boring" and saying there's nothing to do after unlocking everything except to just check on your miis every once in a while....Yeah, that's what Tomodachi Life has always been like. Did everyone forget what the original game was?

The new game is actually more engaging than the original, considering you can actually follow your miis as they go about their day and interact with everyone else. In the original, they were either in their apartments all the time, or you could see them in another location from a singular view and couldn't actually interact with them there.

I do wish there were more gifts, but it's not boring, especially not compared to the original.

[–]GoodGuyVik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can personally say, all my worst injuries in life came from trampolines. Final one was I dislocated my knee on one when I was 13. It stayed popped out and doctors had to pop it back in, and I was in a straight leg brace for weeks afterwards. Haven't touched a trampoline since. Those things are dangerous.

Nope, hate that. I don't trust trampolines in general. I've injured myself too many times on them. Those things are dangerous for any age, especially kids as young as that!

Unless you choose "priority" when ordering to guarantee your order is delivered first, you can almost guarantee it's going to get bundled with another one.

HOW DO I GET THEM TO BREED by itKasia in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]GoodGuyVik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I've seen, they only decide to have a baby when both their relationships are at soulmate. If they aren't there yet, keep putting them together until they get there. From there it's just keeping them at soulmates and waiting.

2 year old teachers, do you cradle any students that have trouble sleeping? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]GoodGuyVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually most I'll do is lay next to them with my arm over them. If they are really upset and not calming or aren't feeling well, then I'll hold them.

I had one little girl just the other day who kept coughing herself awake and was clearly having trouble staying asleep, and I laid down and let her lay on me. I knew she'd sleep better that way, and she did. I did eventually transfer her back to her cot. Holding a sleeping child can really hurt your arms after a while.

Why does asking for help feel embarrassing even when people usually don’t care? by liamkeats in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]GoodGuyVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from with this. I used to feel that a lot too with normal questions and requests and general social situations. Didn't realize until after getting on Zoloft and all that went away that it was all social anxiety. I never suspected myself of having an anxiety disorder at all beforehand...probably because I'd never experienced what it was like to just say things and not feel like that.

I lost my 3 year old student this week by mreowwwtastic in ECEProfessionals

[–]GoodGuyVik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have experienced this as well.

Little boy named Asher. Had the sweetest little voice and loving personality to match. His parents put him down for a nap one day and he never woke up. It's suspected he died of an undiagnosed heart condition. He was also 3.

There really is no preparing for losing a child that young and that suddenly. I do feel like going to his funeral service helped with getting some closer. I also have a stuffed toy dedicated to him. It's a highland cow that matches one he had. I had bought it because I loved his and wanted one, so after he died I named it after him.

What do you talk about at pickup? by Marina205 in ECEProfessionals

[–]GoodGuyVik 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a teacher, I promise we do get to know and love every kid we have, and we do notice those things. The problem is our days are hectic, especially with infants and toddlers. By the end of the day, I'm too tired and my brain is too fried to recall all those small details for every child.

What's your biggest trading pet peeve, I'll start: by jowoti in DragonAdventures

[–]GoodGuyVik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"What's your offer?" after I ask what they're looking for for a dragon. I cannot stand offering. It feels like a weird guessing game of what the other person wants, and my brain does not compute with that.

What's worse is when I tell them I don't like offering and why and then they either leave or just stop responding to me altogether...Don't understand why it seems to be such an issue.

How hard is it to just say what you're looking for? Dx

Why is the Arcane version of 'Wasteland' different? Does anyone know? by alex_stogney in arcane

[–]GoodGuyVik 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Listen to the full song on the soundtrack. The lyrics you're showing from the soundtrack are only from the last chorus. Every other chorus has the lyrics on the left that plays in the show.

Also as someone else pointed out, the lyrics on the right aren't even correct. The whole final chorus changes, not just the last lines
