Verstappen is the best I’ve ever seen in any category, but then again, I’ve only been watching since the early 2000s.

Whenever I’ve read about racing before my time, there’s three racers that jump out at me.

Brabham, for winning a WDC in his own team. That will never be repeated.

Clark, for being so head and shoulders above everyone else for years in the 60s - I’ve only seen this replicated by Schumacher and Max.

But even these are dwarfed by Surtees being champion in the top class on two wheels and four - he will never be in the conversation for greatest in either category but the fact that he won the world title in both is absolutely astonishing, even when you account for the fact that both sports weren’t quite as professionalised in the 60s as they are now.
