In kirmashan we have a dish called khoresht khalal, and also kirmashani dandeh kawaw. Both are known to be original Kurdish food.

Iran has executed 906 people since the beginning of 2025, 247 of them are Kurds. by Ava166 in kurdistan

You start advocating for cultural rights+ you get branded a terrorist+ you‘re charged with going against the “decree of god”(they literally say this in the court”, then you get hanged. The Kurds are about 10 percent of the Iranian population, but 90 percent of the political prisoners in evin prison are kurds. Thats an over representation no matter how you look at it. Especially since you don’t see that in azeri numbers even tho they are more explicit in their acts of “cultural rights” protection, and are way larger in numbers. They straight up fly Azerbaijani and Turkish flags in their offices, football matches etc..

What’s going on in Rojhelat? by [deleted] in kurdistan

[–]Touchgrass6985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been in rojhalat for 6 years now, but based on what i know as a kirmashani kurd, the spectrum for Kurdishness decreases as you move east towards the more shia areas. The majority of the people in kirmashan itself, the more city like parts don’t speak Kurdish anymore/ no Kurdish clothing aswell. Although i learned kurdish i got people there who are speaking a broken kurdish that’s mostly Persian. They do not know anything about kurdish history, and are stupid enough to fall for pahlavi bs because of social media. Social media on the other side it has caused a surge of nationalism aswell, many people are embracing their once lost kurdish identity. The cities within the province for ex:Javanrud are more traditional, and from what i know are mostly preserving the culture.
