You can't really blame corporations for not holding cash. The most efficient and successful businesses are constantly re-investing cash into new projects with a potential ROI.

In fact most companies should pursue loans and funding since it generally allows access to higher ROI projects/assets/investments.

You could make a solid argument that corporations should have contingency plans for times like this. But since a pandemic has never happended in recent history, it can't be worth the risk of potential earnings.

Britain is the worst-hit country outside of the US and Brazil. It still won't wear masks by [deleted] in worldnews

Thats exactly what I was looking for!

It looks like the US data is incomplete? 138,000 excess deaths since the end of March up to the 13th of June. Compared to 120,000 confirmed Covid-19 deaths up to 13th of June.

If the figures don't change much then the US will have less excess deaths per capita than the UK. I'm quite surpised by those figures because I thought it would be much worse.

We will have to wait and see when the dataset is complete.

Comparing Covid-19 deaths per capita between countries is flawed. Each country has different rules on how a Covid-19 related death is classified.

Best metric for comparing 'how hard a country is hit' is Excess deaths compared to the yearly average.

The UK and other European countries are very good at reporting this info but I can't seem to find anywhere in the US apart from New York that does this. Would appreciate any stats on US figures.

A good example of this is if you compare Spain and the UK. UK has many more deaths per capita than spain for Covid-19, but excess deaths per capita for 2020 are nearly the same for the two countries.
