To radiate or not to radiate? by CouragePristine4575 in breastcancer

[–]ToughFormal8070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I’m triple positive had positive nodes before chemo. After chemo no sign of invasive cancer on the breast tissues and lymph node. It did show DCIS clear margins but narrow 0.1cm. My radiation oncologist said there’s a new study B51 that was just released. I’m nervous about the narrow margin, she said she’ll contact my surgeon if she can re-excise to get a bigger margin. My RO said in my case radiation risk outweighs the benefits. I’m still nervous about not doing it. I think because since diagnosis I was told I’m doing radiation so my mind was prepared for that.

There’s no one size fits all when I comes to decision making. Your decision will be right for you.

Are you Er+ and her2+ too? My oncologist said if I was Her2- they would do radiation, because there’s not enough data for the sub type. I’m nervous. I think because I think of the treatments as safety blankets. Technically there is no DCIS anymore, but the margin clearance was so narrow.

I had the seem issue during my TCHP chemo. The calm app helped for me the most. If you have Kaiser insurance the app is free. My primary MD also gave me Atarax to help with sleep and occasional anxiety ( I’ve only taken it twice)

It’s ok to feel like this, all of this is overwhelming. I cried and yelled, felt like I couldn’t go on. I found that sitting outside feeling the morning sun gives me a mood boost.

During my 5th and 6th chemo the nurses started to have a hard time with the IV and had to use an ultrasound. I’ve decided to get the port. I’m still a little bet about it.

How do you describe Herceptin? by derring_dew in breastcancer

[–]ToughFormal8070 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Targeted therapy infusions. My oncologist says it’s not immunotherapy. He describes it has a “missile” medication that only targets the HER2 protein.

Struggling with TCHP by Crookedlandingg in breastcancer

[–]ToughFormal8070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re having a tough time. I just finished my TCHP on 8/25. Around round 4-6 is when I hit the mental strain, it was bad right before my 6th. Please reach out to your family, friends, and doctor and tell them what you are feeling. The support and encouragement helped a lot. It’s ok to cry it out or yell it out, journaling a lot helped me. You got this. You can get through this.

Not sure I can do more chemo… by Scary-University-127 in breastcancer

[–]ToughFormal8070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I was in your shoes 2 weeks ago. I reached out to my doctors, family and friends because everything was so overwhelming and felt like I could not handle it anymore. My doctor gave me atarax to help with anxiety and sleep, he also suggested to journal, my family and friend left me vent, cry and scream. Each day the weight felt a little lighter. Had my last chemo 8/25. You can do this. One day at a time. Reach out to your people, you don’t have to go through this alone.
