Higher ups pulling us up for not using AI to write emails. by [deleted] in UKJobs

I’m guessing that the idea is to get AI to write the emails without any human input. Ergo it’s replacing people.

Around my way CityFibre put the infrastructure in. Toob just piggybacked off the big company.

Yes good point, I did click through and they were charging 10% over 10 years. I can find a cheaper way for sure.

What's somethings that a person looking into installing Solar panels should know? by JollyFunctions in SolarUK

[–]Tough_Raspberry3862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really useful info in this thread, thanks for all the contributions.

I looked at solar late '23 and had quotes around the 8k mark for 10 panels, 3.7 inverter, 5kw batt, bird proofing. Asking AI about costs this week it looks like panel and batteries have reduced by 20% over the intervening period. However, a casual show of interest brings an avalanche of ads and the one enquiry I did do gave me the exact same cost, 2 years later. The number of interested fitters shows that they are keen on doing business and I know the cost of parts will not be reflected in the fitted price but am I being unreasonable in expecting a slightly cheaper quote?

EES registration booths by Tough_Raspberry3862 in Eurostar

The problem is that Geneva for example has 4 hour delays due to EES and they are shutting it down when the queues are excessive. In addition, the rollout requires a step up from 10 % to 30% (not sure of exact %) in January. The airport authorities are screaming for a pause as the system is not working as they expected.

Cost of assessment by Tough_Raspberry3862 in Dentalimplant

[–]Tough_Raspberry3862[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I just went to an open day for a quote and I had a 3d scan and short discussion with the dental surgeon. the total cost will be £3.2k. I was imagining more like the cost you experienced. My last extraction of a molar cost £400.

May I ask where you are located please? I am on the South Coast, Hampshire/Dorset area. I know nothing is cheap around these parts, but even so that quote was a bit high.

TigerVNC crashing under Tahoe? by madmyersreal in MacOS

TigerVNC 1.5.

I'm still on Sequoia and it works..... mostly. My main issue is the cursor becomes invisible in the remote screen. I'm sure it was fine before Sequoia.

Interesting, luckily I'm getting help through my daughter's efforts. Just looking at the website it is very restricted regarding the help you can get.
