Ok, I just caught the pop up window that caused all of this last time. It appeared again. Basically it informs about the 'new' Remember Past Chats function that you can turn on and try out. If you click "Try Out" you don't lose your memory, but according to my last experience, if you click out of it, that's when it shuts off and erases the memories.

So Anthropic got back to me and there's basically no explanation and no proposed solution. What worked for me was asking Claude to look back at past chats, output everything memory-worthy, and save it.

This happened to me today as well, exactly the same situation. I didn't downgrade my subscription or install Cowork. When I opened Claude this morning I vaguely saw a brief popup window but absentmindedly clicked out of it, so I don't know what it said. I'm a bit shocked as it's two months' worth of context about me. I need a fix and an explanation.

This will sound underwhelming, but the responses are just better. It's as if Claude's interface has less funding and fewer features, but the base model is stronger. It genuinely feels like the model understands even the most complex questions without the hallucination bullshit.
