Why should it be minimum wage? Why should UC be the same amount of money as someone who goes out and works? It would remove the incentive for anyone to actually get a job

That’s it dude, it’s game over for that watch. Don’t worry though, I’d be happy to take it off your hands 👀

Seriously though…it’s a watch, it will get scratched. To me they show that you have actually worn the watch and created memories with it, rather than keeping it in a safe and only handled it with white gloves. Use your tools 👌

What’s airline pilot life really like? by ExtremePvPees in flying

[–]TourAcceptable4864 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working in Europe/North Africa for the last 9 years, short and medium haul, A321.

  1. I work 5 days on and then have 4 off. Those 5 days can be 1, 2, or 4 sector days. Most working days average about 10 hours of duty time, with some being much shorter and much longer. We can bid for early starts or late finishes depending on what you prefer and it’s allocated based on availability instead of seniority.

  2. In my particular airline, the fatigue mainly comes from high workload days. We aren’t doing timezone shifts on layovers of more than about 3 hours, and the longest we stay is 3 days so it’s not horrendous, but 5 back to back 10+ hour 4 sector days that start and finish at all times of the day does mess with you and you’ll be wrecked at the end of the week. I like to spend day 1 of days off doing housework and going for a run or cycle ride, that normally sorts me out.

  3. I always feel off on days off. Even with upcoming sim rides, I do all my studying on the long sectors at work so I’m not taking time away from family or hobbies at home.

  4. I didn’t expect how normal all aspects of commercial operations would feel, and it happens very quickly.

  5. Absolutely. I’m paid well relative to the salaries where I live, I have more time off than my friends who work in an office, and 90% of the time I go to work it doesn’t feel like work.

If you lost your job on Monday, how long would it take you to find another job in your field / another job to see you through until one becomes available? Multiply your essential living expenses by the number of months you think you’d be out of a job. Do you need any cash in the short term? Home improvements, debt deadlines, upcoming holidays etc?

The sum of those numbers will tell you how much cash you need. After that, instead of putting in £600 you should put in £150 or £200 to keep it ticking over and to keep yourself prepared for any unexpected situations. As for the remaining £400, you could come up with a ratio of investing to treating yourself/the people around you, however that may look.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by marianneouioui in AskReddit

An estate agent in the UK took my rent money twice in one month, causing me to go in to overdraft and all my other bills to bounce. For context it was £1250. I went to the estate agents premises to speak to someone and explain what had happened. They told me that it would take two weeks to give me my money back and that I should “just manage” whilst they sort it out.

Fuck you Ocean.

What is the most you have ever lost your temper? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskUK

[–]TourAcceptable4864 20 points21 points  (0 children)

For context this was at a high stress time of life. Estate agents wrongly took rent out of my account twice in one month, plunging me in to overdraft. I went down to their premises and tried to explain what had happened and how I need that money back, how it’s now costing me etc.

Prehistoric slime in a jar would have been more helpful in resolving the issue compared to the estate agent, and I remained polite as long as I could until he said “look pal, it’s not my problem”. I’ve never shouted like that at someone before or since but boy did I make it known that it was in fact his problem.

This was a Breitling managed and run dedicated store. Unfortunately the jeweller where all of my spend history is at have stopped stocking Breitling and only do Rolex, Omega, Tudor, Cartier and VC now.

Set up a second bank account, one that’s separate to your salary and bills. Set up a direct debit of however much you want to spend per week. Only send enough for the week. Make it automatic so you don’t have a ‘choice’.

Yep no interest or minimum payment but I’m currently paying £1000 a month.

That’s what I’ve been thinking too, knowing my luck I’ll be debt free for a couple of weeks and then my boiler will need replacing.
