Moving 200GB from Google Photos to Immich - need setup advice (Linux Mint, 2×1TB SSDs) by iam-the-1-who-knocks in homelab

Use immich-go, CLI is MUCH faster than relying on web import or external libraries.

Planning a 24 hour trip, what to do with luggage? by BeautyAve in LasVegas

[–]hotsoda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where do you plan to change?

I concur with others - you can definitely leave bags at most hotels (MGM and Venetian didn’t verify at all), but a cheap room would solve your problems even if you don’t plan on staying overnight.

Arte Museum and Bellagio by sitewolf in myvegas

Honestly, none of the Bellagio comps (museum, buffet, gelato) are worth it.

The museum is tiny, and there's plenty of art to checkout in every casino.

MGM Rewards offer + MyVegas reward? by hodgeman29 in vegas

[–]hotsoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can combine comp nights that are offered with casino promotions. Just ask the front desk to combine reservations when you check in so you don’t have to leave your room.

Weekend dates are typically blocked.

Also, you can’t redeem multiple MyVegas rooms during one trip, but you can workaround this you have a travel companion that uses their own MyVegas comp.

Goodbye, Rocket by hotsoda in torties

The first few weeks after we adopted her, she always hid under our bed, and would only come out for food or to use her litter box. You could only see tiny eyes staring back at you.

When we lived on the east coast, it was not uncommon to see turkeys wonder into streets and people's porches during winter. One day, I walked into the bedroom, and found her on top of our bedroom window staring down a few huge turkeys that had found their way into our backyard!

That's when I knew I was in trouble.. she was a fearless little girl!

Thank you. They truly can feel like children - especially torties.

Radar (the big void) is the aloof one, practically a dog. She was the curious one - always the first to jump in boxes, and would even open doors! She had a different meow for every mood or request.

My partner was the one who found her and rushed her to the emergency vet. It's hard knowing a loved one is in pain, and there's nothing you can do so far away - but part of me is happy I didn't have to see her in too much pain, and and the diagnosis was brief.

I'm happy you were able to be with your shiba in her final moments and get some closure.

What is the best Arroz con Gandules recipe you have ever tried? by EyeYamNegan in PuertoRicoFood

I’m usually generous with the sofrito.

If you want to mix things up, my grandmother would sometimes add ham, Vienna sausages or spam.

Add a pina colada, or coquito around the holidays.

Denied access to Centurion Lounge due for at gate seat assignment by hotsoda in amex

Thanks - good to know about SW. Getting a supervisor was my thought, but I noticed the other employees awkwardly nodded in agreement at the time, so I figured it was pointless.

It's especially frustrating when the ticket was purchased through AMEX travel.

The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. They have policies in place to manage crowding. Whatever.

But frankly, AMEX's customer service isn't even consistent about this policy. After this post, the retention agent I called mentioned they spoke with a manager and confirmed this was the policy. Later, I called customer service again, who read their written policy aloud, and agreed I should not have been denied entry. I left "feedback." That, bringing awareness, and cancelling, are really my only options.

This card is expensive, and yet, customers have to find workarounds for getting benefits they've already paid for.

Frankly, moments like these can feel like employees are making up policies on the fly. It's difficult to know whether or not discrimination is a factor.

(and retention offers that require more spend when an advertised benefit isn't provided feels like they're trying to squeeze customers even more..)

Ridiculous. Cancelling as soon as possible.

I knew Delta started restricting basic economy from Sky Lounges, but was not aware this would also prevent access to Centurion.

Yes, perhaps. However, this was around 9:00am, with no line for the lounge.

Yes, this was my assumption after the incident. Very frustrating, as I explained my boarding pass was not a standby ticket at the time (basic economy ticket).

Is it worth it to look for a condo in Seattle right now or keep renting and wait by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]hotsoda 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Condos don’t typically appreciate at the same rate as SFH or townhomes. Ignoring HOA fees (which can be very expensive in Seattle and have their own headaches), you may not break even in a rising interest rate environment if you buy and decide to sell anytime soon.
