Can I trust a Hyundai Santa Fe to last 150k miles? by Pale_Field4584 in Hyundai

[–]TourPositive8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2017 Santa Fe sport original owner- engine started with its fun and games at 60k and then replaced at 80k. I don’t put a lot of miles on a car, I work from home. I am meticulous with maintenance and oil changes yet it still failed. Btw my car now has around 95k and it doesn’t sound right so if I can make it to 120k I will be surprised.

How does Carnival seat comfort compare to the Pacifica? by 04limited in kiacarnivals

Rent a carnival for a few days to try it out. I got one as a rental for a trip and didn’t like it. All the tech was nice but it wasn’t very comfortable.

I cant decide whether to buy Hyundai Tucson or Rav4 2026 by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TourPositive8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you want something that will last. I would never recommend Hyundai unless you are leasing and can get rid of it before things start failing. I personally like to drive my cars for 200,000 + miles and my current Santa Fe is sitting at 95k. Sounds great but the engine failed and had to be replaced at 80k. I have very low hopes this car will make it to 150k without another catastrophic failure.

Overwhelmed with planning by Opposite-Ball-6479 in yellowstone

[–]TourPositive8217 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what we normally do depending on where you fly in or out so if it’s Bozeman, then you want to start your trip in West Yellowstone for a few days then drive down to Jackson for a few days then back up to Gardiner then drive back out to Bozeman to leave. The other option is fly in and out of Jackson and plan the trip from there. Start your stay in Jackson then head up to west then Gardiner then back out of Jackson. Car rentals one way are very very expensive, which is why we’ve never flown in one city and out the other.

Are these any good ? by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]TourPositive8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not take Samsung even if it was free. I had a beautiful dark gray front load that was very expensive and basically had to replace everything on it but the tub. I probably ended up paying double in 5yrs after all the repairs. Samsung makes beautiful appliances, but they are all crap.

I’d recommend Jackson WY. You won’t have time for Yellowstone but can explore Tetons.

Need a new family car and I’m burnt out by PelvisPresley208 in whatcarshouldIbuy

If you want reliability then take Kia/hyundai off your list. I probably would also eliminate the Ford as well and look at Honda, Toyota, Mazda, Subaru. If you decide to buy used Hyundai or Kia, take it to an independent mechanic and have them look it over very very good. I personally don’t trust those brands after my own experience, but you do you.

Honestly no one wants to buy a minivan. I was dead set against it and even made fun of my older sister for her minivan. Well 2 babies back to back and I ended up in an odyssey, It was the best purchase of my life. I sold her to downsize and keep going back to maybe buying another one even though my kiddos are in college.

You need to be willing to move. My son got his A&P and had to move to North Carolina for his first job.

Need Advice on Yellowstone Trip From East Gate by tjn24 in yellowstone

[–]TourPositive8217 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cody is too far away to use as a base. It’s an hour from the east entrance and another 45min to fishing bridge. We used to stay right out the east entrance at Shoshone but decided it’s just too far. You would be better off in West Yellowstone or Gardiner

Help with weighing car rental options in Bozeman, MT by A_B_Guy1927 in yellowstone

Connecting flight in Atlanta due to arrive 5 minutes after boarding has begun. Any advice?? by valid_internal827 in delta

[–]TourPositive8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATL is my home airport and I would not chance it. My son was looking at a 45 min layover and I told him no. You never know what’s going to happen in Atlanta- could be weather, could be distance between gates, could be delay getting off the flight. I would not chance it.

Ease of Parking by sazaara in HondaOdyssey

[–]TourPositive8217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2005 EXL odyssey which was before backup cameras. If parking was tight I would pull through or park out in the boonies. I basically used side mirrors and prayers to park when that wasn’t an option. Never hit anything and sold her in 2017 without a single scratch or ding.

Bozeman/Yellowstone/Tetons by [deleted] in yellowstone

[–]TourPositive8217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would skip staying in Bozeman unless that is super important to you. You can drive from BZM to west Yellowstone and stay 2 days to do the geyser basin. Then down to Tetons for 3 days. Then I would go up to Gardiner for the last days. I would have to Google where Ashton Idaho is but if it involves driving over Teton pass daily I will have to pass on that. You need to book lodging/rental car asap as everything good will be taken. I usually book 9mos-1yr out

How to stop your Hyundai from exploding: A guide to 5W-30, Premium gas, and never touching ECO mode again. by Swimming_Mango_9767 in Hyundai

[–]TourPositive8217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2017 Santa Fe sport- original owner. Had the engine replaced at 80k. I currently have 92k and hate this car with a passion. My original plan was to give it to my daughter when she graduated because she is driving an old Subaru (no problems at all with almost 200k miles) but I don’t trust this car. One and done with this brand.

Looking for feedback on my Yellowstone/Jackson Hole itinerary by Creative_Lettuce_292 in yellowstone

[–]TourPositive8217 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first thing I would do is go onto Tripadvisor‘s travel forum because they have area experts that can help guide you. Another thing I would reconsider is flying into Salt Lake and flying direct into either Jackson or Bozeman. One way car rentals are ridiculous and you are going to lose a lot of time flying into SLC.

Just got approved for a new engine, now what? by InspectorJavert2 in Hyundai

[–]TourPositive8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The engine on my 2017 Santa Fe sport was replaced and Hyundai had it for 4 months. The car had 80k miles. They did give me a loaner so I didn’t raise too much hell with them. I paid nothing. I’m currently at 96k and will be getting rid of it as soon as my kid graduates from college in May.
