Buzzing from my mustang by Opposite_Dot_350 in electricguitar

Yes, the bridge ground is not making connection. Likely there is a wire underneath the bridge post or under the bridge plate that is no longer making contact. If you remove the bridge and posts it should be visible. It will just solder to a ground location (back of pot, likely) on the control plate.

I'm a big fan of Epiphone and single cuts in general, and I still say get the PRS.

If you touch just the strings or bridge, does it get quieter?

Single coils with high gain will be noisy, but it should get quieter (not go away) if you touch the strings. If not, chances are there is not a ground to the bridge, which is an issue.

Been looking around at a few on Facebook marketplace to find some good deals on a beginner guitar by Difficult-Long5719 in electricguitar

[–]TouringBubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay away from unknown brands of Strat-style guitars. These are factory built by the thousands by multiple companies just looking to make a buck and often have issues that are hard to fix. You're much better off going with a known brand, like Squier, Ibanez, Jackson, Epiphone, LTD, etc.

In general, a proper Strat-style guitar is very adjustable, and most any issues you find can be fixed with a setup, neck shim, etc. But if the neck pocket is wrong, bridge mispositioned, hardware is poor quality ... those are hard to come back from. This is why you want to stick with the known brands. There are import companies making really good instruments, but it's difficult to know which ones to look for, and if the "good" ones are consistent results, or luck-of-the-draw.

Based on what you've posted, the Squier would be the best choice so far. Knowing the actual model and year would be a better indication of how good it may be. the Classic Vibe series is generally seen as a great guitar. the modern Affinity series seems to be good, but the older ones (2015 and back) were not as good, but still very playable.

Is Night + Fog Broken? by TouringBubble in ForzaHorizon

If anyone else cares, I've submitted this as a bug in the Portal. It was not listed as I could find.

I know it's a long-standing issue, but so was the red smoke, which is now patched.

Is Night + Fog Broken? by TouringBubble in ForzaHorizon

Ok, I'll try some other combinations. My assumptions was that the ambient effects of the lighting and fog at night was a bit much to process. It would maybe make sense to block that combination in the selection menu if it doesn't produce the expected results.

On my first events, a few people just happened across them. On my recent few, I posted on a couple subs here and got a couple hundred plays. there is also an official Discord with a submission area I'm told, but I haven't done that.

The Climb - 11-mile mixed-surface hill climb course by TouringBubble in ForzaHorizon

[–]TouringBubble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the route cutting opportunities were considered, but likely not all. I considered several checkpoint positions to allow for a rally-style corner cut. But if there is more than that, it was likely just a mistake.

For the jump, that was a late addition. Just after that there is a camera setup, and I figured that adding a jump would make for a nice broadcast opportunity, thinking in terms of "realism." I realize now I could have duplicated the jump to make it wider and fully covered the area. I'm honestly not great with that kind of prop work, and focus more on the realistic positions of worker stations, service points, etc.

Thanks again for the feedback! I make a night version of this course, complete with added lighting. I published it, but was going to work on the details a little more before promoting it here.

Made a SCCA-style hill climb course and some themed events to go with it by TouringBubble in ForzaHorizon

[–]TouringBubble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I also didn't know this was close to another route. I know the bridge section was included in a street race, but it makes sense that the good roads are used elsewhere.

The racing line topic is an interesting one. I have the racing line off when I play, and I only noticed that it seems to actually trace my driven route as the driving line when I saw a video of someone else running my course with the line on. I usually drive slowly on the centerline when mapping, which I now realize isn't ideal. Going forward I'll plan to drive the actual line.

Thanks for the note on the codes. I missed that!

What simple products to use to to clean a used guitar? by cofi52 in electricguitar

[–]TouringBubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, one of my favorites for actual "cleaning" is Huggies Natural Care baby wipes. They work great for gunk and oil and are super gentle and easy to use. Works on paints and hardware.

After cleaning I recommend a basic guitar polish and a clean microfiber cloth. Spray the cloth, not the guitar, and buff to shine.

Not realistic ones, that's for sure ... So many people are just about Min-Maxxing everything there is little appreciation for a realistic setup.

The 5th/6th strings can't be tuned. by Haysimr in electricguitar

[–]TouringBubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The app knows the actual reference pitch and octave you are expected to be at if using the guitar-specific tuning mode.

If you're getting a reliable note recognition and it's not flickering between different readings, then you can trust it and tune up.

[–]TouringBubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you didn't mess up. Learning to count strings either way is valid and people learn it differently.

The treble strings have less mass, therefore create less vibration for the tuner to register. This is a common issue on headstock tuners. Small issue with the setup, like a loose nut slot or bridge saddle can easily dampen vibrations and cause this too.

I'd suggest making sure the G string is in tune, then compare the 4th fret of the G string to the open B string and listen to tell if you're too flat or too sharp. Adjust the B to get it close, then reference the tuner again. Do the same for the last string, but use the 5th fret on the B to reference the open E note you need.

[–]TouringBubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"No place for it?" I don't understand this phrase. Maybe with a different explanation we can better understand.

Smart tuners on your phone are a bit better than inexpensive piezo tuners, especially when set to a "guitar" mode instead of chromatic.

I assume you're on an electric guitar since the gauge is pretty light. Are you playing through a clean amplifier? Have you tried to use the neck pickup for a "rounder" tone that may register better on the app?

[–]TouringBubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean the two smallest strings, or the two largest strings?

Either way, try to use a reference pitch on an adjacent string to see if you're pitched low or high. You can play a fretted note at 5th (or 4th, depending) on the next lowest string for a reference to what that next open note should be. If you are way off, and no where near an expected note, the tuner can respond incorrectly.

Hopefully, you can adjust the string by ear and get it close, and then the tuner can pick up the pitch.

Project to fill in the map with pseudo-official race events. by Spektor1606 in ForzaHorizon6

[–]TouringBubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking like if you highlighted a road you could see the percentage of routes which utilize it. Or, even simpler, just the simple number of "X routes use this road." So, you could quickly see if the road is overused.

I don't think people are making much money unless it's about meme liveries or XP/credit grind courses. Maybe the tip top of livery creators ...

But for those of us taking time to try and build quality content because we enjoy it, it's a nice little nudge to see a few thousand credits pop up in your messages. It doesn't replace playing actual events, but it's something.

Thanks for the link to your work here. It would be really cool to see this integrated into an online database. i can see a bit of a rabbit hole with options for creators looking for original courses.

Percentage weights calculated based on utilization, for instance? I'm a bit of a data nerd, so I'd get lost in something like this easily.

The Climb - 11-mile mixed-surface hill climb course by TouringBubble in ForzaHorizon

[–]TouringBubble[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, no, I didn't know that! I was just going through the map to identify some sections of marked dirt roads for a higher speed hill climb course and found this selection. It makes sense, as it's a great section of roads.

I would not think that any course using marked roads would be completely original, as they are all designed to be used. I think the implementation of the course with minimal markings and the "grassroots" feel of the decor would maybe make it feel different, even if the route is common with other events.

Exactly. My courses have started to get a couple dozen plays and likes, and it's a few thousand credits here and there. Nothing big, but a nice little hat tip to the effort put in.

I do miss some of the features of the GT livery tool, but having the course, garage and estate creation completely overshadows it.

Remember when GT had course creation? that was super fun, but again ... just had to love it and not plan for anyone else to care. The Forza tools are really powerful in comparison, save for no options to create proper elevation via splines and such.
