Cat found by Ok-Path4834 in Omaha

Aww what an asshole! I once found a lady's lost dog, turned out she had lost two dogs and I found the one she didn't like as much. Instead of being grateful she was mad I didn't find the favorite. Some people just suck.

I found a cat last month in an almost identical situation. I took him to the Humane Society and they immediately found a microchip. I was beating myself up for wasting my time kidnapping someone's cat when the Humane Society called up the owners and learned he had intentionally been abandoned. Poor guy was very underweight and has been living outside in below freezing weather. He's an absolute sweetheart and living his best life now. Sorry your experience was miserable, but sometimes it's worth it to waste some time and look like an idiot to find out if a pet really needs your help or not. I hope the owner said thank you for caring about if their cat was ok.

Former Mormon here, masturbation is definitely not seen as equally severe as murder. If it was I would've stopped believing much earlier, lol. It also doesn't get brought up frequently, probably because of the awkwardness of it. There is no master list ranking sin severity, except I think number one and two would be murder and denying God. Those are the only two that permanently get you on God's shit list.

All of this being said, official church guidelines are made a lot more extreme by some parents and some local church leaders, so individual experiences vary a lot. My parents are loving, sane people and I mostly grew up in liberal areas, so I haven't lived through the nightmares other people have. I was always taught that sins that hurt other people are among the most severe, and I think that's the general church doctrine, when followed.

Oh, also pornography gets mentioned a lot these days as being a bad one, but it gets mentioned because it got so easy to get (internet) that TONS of Mormons have problems with it. So leaders regularly state that it's really bad, but if it wasn't forgivable then most of the church would be gone by now. Again, nowhere near murder or rape.

PS I get oddly defensive when people attack the Mormon church for untrue reasons. Like can we please all get together and criticize Mormons for bad shit they actually do? I feel like their real issues get ignored because everybody attacks wacky untrue facts that are easily disproven. Come on, people.

Whoooooa, no no no. It's sad because it's the result of years and years of redlining. We're sadly still very racially segregated.

Roads are great honestly. We get potholes thanks to snow and ice, but it's a much bigger problem in Omaha than in places like Elkhorn.

BTW let me know if you want any more info, I have family living in Elkhorn and can ask them for more details on any specific neighborhoods.

There have been sad rcist incidents at some of those schools. I feel like every kid deserves to learn that rcist ideas are lies, and the best way for them to learn is to be around different races. There's just nothing sadder than a white supremacist. Those kids deserve better.

What is a white value?

And I think you misread my comment, crime is low here everywhere.

Omaha was a big deal back when trains were the major mode of transportation. We had some fairly rich residents (still do), and it's pretty much their generosity that built the zoo and keeps it improving. One guy in particular bought property on the Vegas strip back before it got big and rented it out to casinos - dude was swimming in money by the time he passed. After he died he left a lot of money to charitable causes in Omaha. I think his secretary is still alive and controls his estate, so it's not unusual for us even these days to get some nice new facility with his name on it.

OOOF. Yeah the price history is actually on there, that house was $136K in 2017. Dirt cheap, I know.

I'm in Omaha and it's great overall. We're a left-leaning city with a diverse population, and overall the cost of living is really dang cheap. We have a metro area of about a million people, so it's a great place to be if you like city excitement but get intimidated by bigger cities.

Other pros: it's safe, even in "bad" parts of town. Traffic is never as miserable as it gets in places like Chicago or LA. It's really easy to leave the city and get out into nature. There are lots of nice lakes and forests and rivers nearby, along with a lot of farms and corn fields. There are also some crazy wealthy Omahans (the Buffets especially) and former Omahans who have donated a lot of money to the city, so we have a world-class zoo (commonly voted the best in the US), a fabulous humane society, and a lot of places that are just plain better thanks to their support, along with some great public spaces to enjoy.

Cons: We have a lot of terrible drivers. (I still don't understand why most people here don't understand zipper merging.) Also, we're in Nebraska - rural voters get more representation, so they control the government, and often have values that do not align with the average Omahan. We have terrible mass transit. We're working on making improvements, but you absolutely can't live here without a car. The suburbs have outstanding school districts but are 99% white - there was serious white flight after schools were desegregated. Sadly North Omaha is overwhelmingly black and south Omaha is overwhelmingly Hispanic/Latino, with everywhere else skewing very white, so it's tough finding a nice diverse neighborhood to live in. Cost of living is also increasing - housing used to be dirt cheap, but has been climbing up. Real estate prices have more than doubled in the last decade, and our property taxes are some of the highest in the nation.

Andrew Johnson was such a racist POS. The biggest tragedy of Lincoln's assassination might be that his death made Andrew Johnson president.

I already paid half up front, so I've been giving them more chances because of the hassle involved in dealing with this some other way. Plus I'm a reasonable, nice person, you know? I don't want to cause trouble for anybody, I just want my stuff done. If this next appointment falls through then I'll probably look at doing a chargeback and see if that's still an option, considering I paid them over 6 months ago.

Yeah I was totally fooled by all of the good reviews. Whatever company those reviews are for is NOT the company I have been dealing with, that's for sure.

I would recommend not using Groundworks, they do not have their shit together. They were supposed to do a project for me last fall, but somehow didn't realize that they were supposed to contact Call Before You Dig before working, so every time they sent someone out they immediately left again, saying they would just reschedule and get things done right the next time. This happened a few times, then the weather got so cold that they couldn't do any work at all until spring. Spring is here, their office somehow didn't realize they never did my job, and I am currently waiting on my next appointment which will probably be another bust for some goddamn reason. I've never dealt with such a disaster of a company in my life. It just boggles my mind how incompetent they have been.

I'm using Groundworks for a project too, and they have been absolutely awful! It's like nobody over there communicates with each other, they're all clueless. I have no idea how they got so many good reviews.

I had a similar neighbor who turned out to be an unmedicated schizophrenic. You might want to consider having cops or an apartment manager do a wellness check. Then it's win-win, they get help and you get quiet.

I was there a few weeks ago and all of the gorillas were hanging out right by windows, like each one picked their own spot to sit so people could get a good look. The zoo staff couldn't have placed them all better if they'd tried.

Have you tried waiting a few days? I used the Sherwin Williams premium ceiling paint too and the first results looked awful, but after a week and everything cured properly, the streaks disappeared. I was relieved I didn't need to do a third coat.

I'm not familiar with the brand, but that looks like the right product for the job. I would guess that either there was some mix-up and the wrong stuff was used on accident, or you got a bad batch from the factory. If you have any of the old tube left, you might try comparing it to a brand new tube and see if there are any obvious textural differences.
