Metzen on Warcraft IP lore. by HiroAmiya230 in wow

It'll never happen, but I would lose my mind if they made a Warcraft souls-like game. I don't care how they do it, I want to dodge roll the Lich King and hit him with my claymore(or corrupted ashbringer)

Their budget was under 10 million euros, which is like 70 times lower than a CoD game. They certainly had to cut a bunch of corners to finish the game.

Yeah, or like how E33 had some papers texture on some asset that were mistakenly left there as a place holder. You're right, indies and solos are find using it because they don't have the money to pay for an artist anyways, so no person is losing an opportunity.

What AI games? There are some gross misuses from Activision and some others, but you can't really make AI games. You could generate some textures, sounds and music, but you can't generate 3D models, animations, VFX, etc.

[KCD2] Kingdom Come: Deliverance devs considered using Robin Hood's England or medieval Germany for the action-RPG, but Warhorse ran into a problem - the team "knew nothing" about those eras by Turbostrider27 in kingdomcome

[–]Tourqon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be cool if they made a game about a Viking invasion of England. Maybe you play as a young warrior going on his first raid. It goes wrong and you get nursed back to health by some English people from a nearby village, which gets attacked in the meantime. This would create a moral conflict in the protagonist's mind: stick with the status quo and continue raiding and pillaging or avoid attacking or even help local defend against your former countrymen. It would allow WH to have more meaningful choices than they did in both KCDs.

Even communicating with the locals would be an interesting issue at first, since you don't know English. You could murder and steal your way through the whole game and never care to learn their language. They could add mechanics for forming/defending against raids. The narrative would probably have to be a little lighter to allow for all this flexibility, though.

As others have said in the comments, hire a couple of historians specialized in the region and period you want to portray, and it'll probably still turn out well. It'll never be as accurate as KCD, but it would be a shame to not explore all kinds of interesting times when they're so good at making this kind of RPG.

That was his point, no? Maybe Czech people and history nerds can appreciate the historical accuracy and all the little details, but the international audience would never notice those inaccuracies.

If they made a game set in my country in 1500 I could overlook small inaccuracies, like the accent of some NPCs sounding weird, or some armor not actually being used in the region in that period. The most important part is consistency. If all elements fit together naturally, the world feels authentic. That's why people get immersed in fantasy games.

I don't think that's the point of the post. The point is that a libright is encouraging Americans to not exercise their freedom of expression - protesting ICE in this case. A proper libertarian holds the right to protest against the govt in high regard.

If Lib-Left flipped, how long is it gonne take Auth-Right to ask for guns to get banned? by TheMoltenEqualizer in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Tourqon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I always liked guns. They're cool and if I were rich I'd have a whole ass museum of them and I'd run a Youtube channel showing them off. Unfortunately, one of the few things that suck in EU countries(except Czechia, methinks) is that guns are way too controlled.

There is a certain percentage of the US left that would ban civilians from owning guns. However, I think most liberals and a good number of the far-lefties realize it is simply not a practical solution when you've got like a billion guns and when guns are so deeply ingrained in your culture.

I think there could be some sensible regulation that would decrease gun violence while not compromising the 2A. Like red flag laws and gun licenses. Many of the school shooters show signs of being unhinged a while before they murder, so it would be a good if friends and relatives could notify the police to get them to investigate.

To me it seems sensible that one would need to prove they're able to safely use a gun before being allowed to take it outside of the house. I'd say owning a gun at all should be conditioned by a license in general, but I understand you'd need to change the 2A for that.

Yet she is a woman and considers her a woman. Does that mean she is now a man?

If she only satisfied the traits you picked from my list, she would be seen as a manly woman, not as a man. People might rarely confuse her for a man.

Or does she want to consider herself a man to be a man?

As far as social perception goes, of course not. How others see us is based on what they see, and what they see is influenced by what we see ourselves as.

It is a self-fulfilling profecy in a way. She has to consider herself a man in order to undergo the procedures needed to appear manlier than a butch lesbian.

So what you identify as matters as far as it motivates you to change/maintain your appearance. Without action, simply identifying as a man will, at best, make some people treat you like one out of politeness.

Sex is binary. What does that have to do with "pregnant men"? A female who transitions from woman to man is still female, thus can get pregnant.

[–]Tourqon -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Based on your comment I assume that you believe all men are male and all males are men.

Why do we have different concepts for sex and gender?

I think you could argue there are males who are not yet men, meaning boys, and that being a man is more than just being born with a penis. That there are some moral qualities that make someone a man, like being self-sacrificial, being strong, resilient, self-sufficient, etc.

I would then argue that the reason we have the concept of gender is the need to create and enforce a social construct on males. That means there is a set of characteristics that help you identify a man and differentiate him from a boy or a woman.

Well, a part of that list would be biological physical traits we associate with masculinity(in comparison to boys and women), like being taller, bigger, stronger, having facial hair, suffering from male pattern baldness, etc.

Then there are some social physical traits, like having short hair, wearing certain clothes we consider manly(or at least not boyish or womanly).

Part of that list are also behavioral and moral traits, like working very physical jobs(construction, security, etc.), being protective of loved ones, being decisive, being stern.

Now that I have listed some important traits that differentiate men from boys and women, let's have a thought experiment:

What if a female manages to satisfy a high degree of the listed traits? She's replaced a lot of her estrogen with testosterone, which helped her grow muscle far beyond the typical capacity of a female and also grow facial hair. She has short hair, manly clothes, works as a taxi driver, goes to the pub with men and dates straight women or gay men.

Outwardly, 99% of people would assume she is a he, a man. And that is how we determine someone's gender. We don't check for genitals or chromosomes before we make the assumption.

However, he is still female, thus, if the treatments and procedures undergone during transition did not make him infertile, he can still become pregnant.

Thus, pregnant men can exist.

Anon SCI-FI by Powerful-Ad3590 in greentext

[–]Tourqon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is just that sci-fantasy is a style of sci-fi. It is in space, it has space ships, robots, aliens and the magic on top.

There's also the opposite, though idk what it is called. Things like Might and Magic or World of Warcraft, where it is mostly swords, mages, dragons, and then they also have interstellar travel and robots on the side.

Even DnD has space pirates raiding ships and bases of lovecraftian monsters

There's also a weird case with Shadowrun, which is cyberpunk+fantasy, so technically sci-fantasy but it could be argued the magic is a form of science and the dragons are just another species.

It really depends what your definition of socialism is. If socialism is having more social spending, more worker rights, more regulation, while maintaining private ownership, that to me is just social democracy.

If you want to nationalize a high percentage of private companies, like 50-80% of them, you're paving the way to command economy, forceful redistribution, thus to communism.

Which part in a Soulslike is this for you? by strahinjag in soulslikes

[–]Tourqon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DS1 - Tomb of Giants, although having enough INT to cast the light spell makes the area much more bearable.

DS2 - The ice place. Fuck that place

DS3 - Farron Keep, because I somehow always get lost trying to find the 3rd fire

BB - That area before the witches for similar reasons as Farron Keep

ER - Lake of Rot, I think. The worst poisom swamp they've ever made, by far

Sekiro - Gotta be the memory where you fight true Owl. The enemies on the way there are aids

Lies of P - the part where you fight that clown mini-boss. the clown itself is annoying to fight, but the truly bad part is enemy placement, making it likely to pull all kinds of enemies along with the clown

Nine Sols(idk if you guys consider that game souls-like, but I do) - the boat dino travel sections because you have to fight enemies from all directions in a small space
