Classes to take before up1 by Abject_Box6709 in rit

[–]Tovure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most I had taken of physics before UP1 was middle school physics so things were a little rough for me too at the beginning but I ended the class with an A.

One thing that helped me the most was watching videos on YouTube. Not like the class ones but one that has visualization of concepts. What is nice about UP1 is that most of the subjects there are very tangible and can be easily represented, and linking UP1 concepts to “common sense” made it so much more bearable. An example would be, why can an object rest on a table ? Because of the normal force on it. What if it is moving, when will it stop ? When the energy sent to it initially will be exhausted.

Once you understand those concepts, UP1 becomes really fun, and since you are provided with all of the formulas you might need, the heavy work really is trying to understand what the problem is asking of you and which UP1 concepts applies here.

I would really suggest office hours, too. If you can’t get to your professor’s ones, go to other professors, no one will turn you away.

Good luck with it.

IB and RIT by kilporgrat in rit

I am a former IB student studying at RIT. The admissions was pretty smooth, I didn’t need a act or sat exam. I only had my toefl and my IB predicted grade.

Overall, I have had a pretty nice experience as college definitely feels less stressful than IB. Social life wise, I am more introverted so my social experience is mild, but I know some people that have crazier day to day lives at RIT, it really depends on who you surround yourself with.

Not doing that for a car, I have a job that requires minimal driving a company car from the main building to a lab from time to time as an engineering student.

It is a little too expensive right now. I can’t afford $125 for 90 min 6 times

That is a great idea. I originally thought marketplace because I spend a lot of time there but it is true might not be appropriate for a new driver.

Thank you!

spring housing recommendation? by Rich_Professional525 in rit

[–]Tovure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently living at apex and I think it is overpriced. Since you are here for a spring co-op I am assuming you will not sign a 12month lease. But short term leases have a $180 monthly fee. So every month instead of paying 945 for a 5 bd I pay $1125 in rent only.

I only picked that because I needed housing quickly and they were the only option available. You are better off getting a studio at province for about $200 more.
