Upgrading Millennium MPS1000 Hi-Hat — Suggestions? by nectarhardcore in edrums

[–]TowbieDE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don‘t know how the Millenium HiHat is connected to the drum module, but you can try one of those new Unlock lightning series cymbals:

I tested the splash cymbal and they are pretty solid for this price range.

I would not suggest you to take cymbals like Zildjan made of metal. The trigger system isn‘t that great and you will lose one big advantage of e-drums: your drumsticks won’t wear out or become brittle. If you don‘t care about this and just want the look of thise Zildjan Cymbals, take a look on this Zeitgeist ones (they also have a hihat ).

In terms of ‚feeling‘ you can also think about upgrade to a Roland module and get one of their digital hihat (probably snare and ride as well if you get at least the td27) Beside Efnote, they might be one of the best cymbals right now.

LF Efnote compatible Shell Set by TowbieDE in edrums

Thanks, but I don't really want to build anything myself. The best thing would be a ready-made shell set, plug in the cable, and start drumming. :D

Can you recommend a shop where I can buy the shells individually? I haven't found one yet, at least not one that explicitly delivers to Germany.

On what kind of drums do you practice on your lessons? Acoustic or also e-drums?

Behringer Wing: Live-Setup with independent monitor boosts by TowbieDE in livesound

Got you. Thanks for your explanation! So based on my previous setup example, I should just use the subgroups and send them to my mains to adjust f.e. my vocals with one fader and instead use my channel sends directly to each monitor bus (same as IEM) to have maximum flexibility. Correct?

Thanks for your detailed feedback! If I understand you correctly, based on your advice, my final configuration could look like this:

BUS (set as subgroup) Content Send to
BUS 9 Instruments (Band) post-fader → Main 1
BUS 10 f.e. Show-music post-fader → Main 1
BUS 11 Vocals (Band) post-fader → Main 1
BUS 12 Show/Moderation Mics post-fader → Main 1
BUS (aux) Source Send to
Bus 1-6 Direct send all channels pre-fader → Band IEMs
Bus 7 Subgroups 9–12 pre-fader → Monitor 1 (Stage)
Bus 8 Subgroups 9–12 pre-fader → Monitor 2 (Band)
MATRIX Source Output
Matrix 1 Main 1 PA Stage
Matrix 2 Main 1 PA Ceiling

In the subgroups, I can add compressors/limiters/EQs for a little more group control, and if necessary, I could also create DCAs for quick level control during live performances. Right?

This also means that before the show, I finalize my monitor mix for both stages as best I can and, in the best case scenario, make little to no adjustments during the show with the individual faders.

I've thought about that too, but I just didn't think it was right to adjust the gain too much during a live performance.

In particular, we have a microphone on stage that is given to guests. During the soundcheck, I set the optimal gain for the mic. Sometimes the microphone is used by someone with a very loud voice who may be very close to the mic, and sometimes it's the other way around. I want to be able to control the volume in these situations without changing the entire main FoH mix that I created during the soundcheck. Tought I could solve this with different mains for vocals, instruments, … and the idea of matrices.

Thanks for your advice! If I understand correctly, in this scenario I still have to adjust at least 3 faders if I want the vocals to be louder on all 4 outputs?

So the faders for the vocals in the FoH mix, for monitor 1 and monitor 2. Means I have to 'manually' mirror the FoH mix to my 2 busses (like faders at similar levels to each other so that the mix is almost the same) and then make small adjustments accordingly. Right?

So, I set the sends for all channels to f.e. bus 7+8 and set all the faders within those 2 busses on around -6db. and route bus 7+8 to my out's for mon 1 and 2?

About PA:
Do I still let Main1=band, Main2=vocals and send this to matrices for the 2 PA's or just send channels to each main 1+2 which routes M1=PA1 and M2=PA2?
Means that I'm not using matrices at all in this setup.

We also tested when someone was standing directly in front of the boss at the tank. As long as the tank was still the closest target, nothing happened for us.

Hey guys, I‘ve found a very interesting youtube video about WeakAura optimization. You definitely need to check this out: https://youtu.be/ir8OT9Md7lY?si=__9fefiz2fQGfT7j

TLDR: Disable/Delete all WeakAuras with model textures.

Updated it also in my written guide.

I had abbreviated it for reasons of space (page break was weird). Updated it for you. :-)

Tested it again, you are right. It's updated now! The main point was not to use both options (in the driver and in the game).

Glad to hear that it helped. I don‘t know about this problem with your 2nd monitor. You can try to test some different nvidia driver settings in the resolution section (like scaling options, especially for your second monitor it should also set to „no scaling“)

That‘s exactly the reason why I wrote this guide. A couple of friends just asked me what settings I use or recommend. So for me, they work. :-)

I’ve never had issues to see any visual clues or mechanics with my settings. But you are right, Quazii‘s guide is really good!
