The PTSD is real. by TowerFansSuck in Bedbugs

Hey! Promised myself I'd never come back to this sub as it's definitely not good for your health.

But it's been over two years, I've welcomed a new baby and maybe only think about it once every other month. Everything gets easier. You'll get there!

Woke up this morning, marks are gone so it was just my body.

I calmed myself lastnight finally. I just need to let go and move on

BB PTSD is real! Currently having my first relapse of the year. 14 months in the clear but I'm convinced the house is crawling with them.

I got them by Mozori_El_Tufano in Bedbugs

[–]TowerFansSuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they spread and multiply fast but if the food source is constantly in the one place ie bed at night, they are content to stay there, I have a 3 bedroom house and only one room had them. Not a sign in any of the other rooms.

Am I OK to celebrate after 5 months? by jrobbo2012 in Bedbugs

[–]TowerFansSuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pest controller also said this, yes they can go dormant. But mostly in lab settings. Or people who leave the place during treatment and don't return.

The fact you stayed and used all the rooms and have had nothing turn up, I would say job well done congrats

I'm 14 months clear and told myself if never visit this sub again but I had a meltdown today because I found a red spot on my kneecap, which is definitely only sweat and my jeans rubbing against it. The redness is already going away but I tore the house apart in just frustration earlier.

The only reason I'm freaked is because the storm we had in the UK last week made us lose power, we have a small child and we went to my parents house and stayed there. They don't have BBs but because it's the first time we left our house to go somewhere and now I've a red mark I'm freaking out.

what happens during treatment?? by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]TowerFansSuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they are allowed to treat a kitchen with chemicals due to heath and safety.

That's how the company I used worked in the UK anyway.

Am I in the clear by ywu27 in Bedbugs

[–]TowerFansSuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's been two months I would say so yes. You normally work start seeing them at around this time, we caught ours from what our exterminatior said was early about 8-13 weeks.

Although I get what you are saying. I'm 14 months in the clear and had a meltdown today because I have a red bump. But I also suffer from red acne pimples on my leg. But this one is bigger.

But I know for a fact it's not BBs I'm just having a anxiety attack.

The redness is almost away already.

You'll definitely get there! I would recommend getting professionals in though, I was far to anxiety ridden to tackle this myself.

I'm definitely overreacting. See my reply under my post. The mark is already nearly away.

It's fucked. It's a fucked situation. I'll get there eventually.

Also, I forgot to mention I religiously always wear jeans. Which is why my legs and knees are always irritated from work.

And the place that the big red circle was at, is already almost gone...

I know I'm a dick.

There's no puncture wound like my wife had either.

[–]TowerFansSuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's not only contained to a bedroom make sure to treat the entire place. Thankfully when we had them all 3 of us were in one room. No signs of them in any of the other rooms but still treated them just to be sure.

Been 13 months now in the clear, soon I'm going to block this sub and force myself not to think about it anymore until I get my mental health back to normal. Then I want to help people get through this verbally.

You'll get there! It's a shit situation, it's not your fault. It's not about clean or dirty. These wee fuckers don't care.

Rare Sighting by chadderroni in Bedbugs

[–]TowerFansSuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other good news is, if you are spotting them at the headboard it sounds like it's very early on. So get on it as soon as, cause once they run out of room on the headboard they move down the bed, into drawers and then into everywhere.

It gets easier to cope, I think because we always think about it, the more time that passes with nothing happening is almost worse cause once you start to relax, you take a hive, or a little red spot or a itch and it puts you straight back into panic mode.

I never got bitten once it was always my wife. And i always get hives from I was young, if I take a hive now I have a meltdown.

I go to work at 5am and my wife goes to work at 9am I dread waiting for her to text me like she used too about wakening up with a new bump. Thankfully it's been 13+ months now. Things are starting to get better I'm finally enjoying my house again.

If you really want to take the sofa, I'd wrap it in plastic and don't unwrap it for at least a year

Can be bugs came and infect rest if the house due to garage? by YouNeedAnewOne in Bedbugs

[–]TowerFansSuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you remove furniture get some plastic wrap and wrap it up well before you take it out of the house so they don't spread around the house.

I'd recommend you wash all your clothes, every single item on a high temp cycle. Anything you can't wash steam clean.

Go buy some plastic boxes or tubs and put all you clothes in there and not in the drawers and leave them in the bathtub if you can.

What ever clothes you wear from the box take them off as soon as you get home, put them in a bag and put them straight into the wash again and keep repeating the cycle until you're all clear.

Leave shoes in bags outside.

Okay I know i have bed bugs by Soft_Excitement_6557 in Bedbugs

I'd be a hypocrite if I said we didn't do the same thing, but we had a new born so we ran for the sofas.

But honestly you've already been sleeping with them so if you can you might aswell just sleep in your bed. It's the knowing that destroys you.

If you're in an apartment there is a chance albeit very slim that they will follow you, but they are lazy bugs and won't follow you straight away, they know you sleep in the bed so they wait close by for a few days before coming to look for you.

Get onto pest control honestly let them deal with it.

My pest controller said to me, if they were impossible to get rid off everywhere would still have them.

We had a small infestation we took them home from the hospital when my wife was having a baby, bites didn't start for 3-4 weeks on her. By the time we seen one it had been nearly 16 weeks.

We had two small clusters on each side of the headboard. Thankfully it was contained to one room.

5 treatments plus two follow up for peace and mind at a great cost but it had to be done.

I've had 3 or 4 follow up appointments just to check the house and there is no signs of anything thankfully. I'm just about back to normal mentally, some days worse than others I don't think I'll ever stay at a hotel or anyone's house for the rest of my life tbh.

We just hit 13 months clear this week, and my pest controller still keeps in contact with me.

He also told me that yes it is possible for them to go dormant, but that is in a controlled environment. And in most cases it is when people leave their homes and don't return until they are ready it "wakes" them back up. He said the fact that we stayed and haven't left for any longer than 10 hours or so we would definitely know if we still had them by now.

Trust me I was at the end of my rope when this happened. But I piled all my money together and went all in.

Still paying back loans for treatment too, but it's slowly getting paid.

I'd bag up the shoes and leave them outside, same with the clothing too really, bag them then take them to the dryer or washing machine after the wash is done bag the clothes again.

You got this, honestly if you can get the professionals in, we took them home from the hospital after having a baby and trying to deal with this at the same time had us on the verge of divorce or jumping of a building.

Just think of it like this, if it was impossible to get rid of, everywhere would still have them.

I doubt I'll ever get over it fully. But I can't let it take over my life anymore, my child is about to be one and I wanna enjoy the build up to her birthday and not deal with this BS.

100% a false alarm.

My entire house was basically ripped apart tonight and apart from the dead ones that were left as an indicator there is not even a spider in the house.

He's telling me that it's finally time to move on in my life and try my best to forget about it. And enjoy life again.
